Real Madrid C Overview
By: Corey | January 11th, 2008This is a suplement to the Castilla overview I put up a few days ago, and it will be brief because even in this soccer mad world of ours, there is not much info on 16 and 17 year old players, which is rightfully so, because they are kids and shouldnt have to deal with the media. Christ when I wa 16 I was on my Varsity squad and playing travel but that was it, I wasnt with a club or a youth international, I couldnt imagine having semi-grown men writing blogs about my future potential!
But, these kids are what I bank the future success of the team on, so lets do a gentle over view of their progress to professional footballers shall we.

Okay, so not to bad. They finished in 6th place in the Tercera Division Group 7, which is a bunch of semi pro teams and the likes of Ateletico C, Getafe B, Rayo Vallecano B (the B team is pretty close to the full team haha) as well as the club Las Rozas were we have reqruited alot of youth players from. Its a Madrid based group to say the least, and there is a Derbi even for the C team!
So we see theres a few B and C teams in their group, and the Tercera division is populated by mostly those a semi-pro teams or the odd lagging pro team that has hit hard times. What I noticed first off is the presence of Valencia Mestalla in Group 6. Schuster had recently stated that the drop in the B team (Castilla) down a division was worrying as the youth team players would be required to jump a division to join the full team and he didnt know if that was healthy. Well I tell him this, our C team plays with B teams right now! And out B Team plays with pro teams and a couple of other B teams. Sevilla Atletico is the obly B team in the “Second” division as of now, so we can not say our B team has sunk so far!
Anways, our C team competes at a very high level, boys against men typically. Which is tough on them but it helps them improve vastly compared to say how England doesnt have youth teams in their divisions but in seperate leagues playing one another (STUPID!). Here are a few of the highlights players:
Aitor:
Not sure if he is a youth international yet, but he is a good bet to be one. What can you say, like so many before, he will probably never dislodge Casillas, but he will give it a go probably.
Jordi Figueras:
Captain and central defener extrodinaire, he will be in the Castilla team next year most likely, he is a solid prospect. I would predict a first team berth for him one day (cross your fingers).
Garcia Ortega:
He is a left back, more attack minded then anything, and at 18 is getting ready for the jump to the Castilla team. He probably wont make it to the first team and will start out in the Segunda some day.
Kamil Jacek:
He is a Polish youth international center back, and since we have been buying young Polish players like wildfire, I do not know if he is any good or part of a influx of Polish players along with Szymon Matuszek. Only time will tell I guess.
Jose Antonio “Toto”
Central midfielder who is robust in the tackle and has good distribution if my Spanish is correct. As far as progression up the ranks I do not, we have not seen a central midfielder stick with Real since Guti, but you never know.
Antonio Montiel;
Culture to Toto’s physicality in the middle. Again, progression is questionable.
Fernando Guerrero:
A Ecuadorian international at 18, he is a phenomenal talent for his age and I think he will make it to the full squad eventually, with a loan or two punctuating that (think Balboa). Check this out for more on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Guerrero
Lionel Franck:
A non-Polish foriegn player in our youth teams! Surely you jest my good man. Nope, Lionel, leader of the Thunder Cats, is probably the best striking prospect besides Javi Hernandez we have, not for goals, but in a secondary striker like Raul. He may score a few this year, or he may be converted into a winger, not sure. Heres a tribute to brave Lionel:
Javi Hernandez and Berrocal:
The top goal scorers last year. Javi with 7, Berrocal with 3. I do not know much about them other then they both score, so I will have to defer judgement seeing as how I have never seen a C team game.
And for some reason David Moreno, the phenom that he is, is still in Juvenil B. Yes he is 16 but I would expect him to be with the C team by now atleast. Real must be keeping him under wraps, because he is a fantastic talent. Check him out here: http://www.davidmoreno.net/
So there it is, the kids that are 4-5 years away from first team selection. So lets look on and hope the make it as professionals someday. Adios.

So do we see a Quinta del Moreno or Butre in the pack?

Well with Moreno its hard to tell cause the players his age I dont have much info on. I sincerely though that Negredo, Bueno, Mata and Nieto were gonna be the next Quinta, but unfortunately that wont happen. I dont know if something like that will ever happen again unless we go broke, we seem to smitten with buying players then raising better ones.
