Lose to Betis but Beat Cadiz Why Dont You
By: Corey | August 17th, 2007Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis
Heres a quick recap of that game.

And a video of Betis’ goal.
To say that Real Betis are relegation fodder is an understatement, and to say that signing Dudek was a horrible mistake is an even worse understatement. He is terrible, that was an easily savable shot that Casillas, if not subbed off 3 seconds before hand would have saved. A poor game I assume, I dont get to see these matches so I dont really know. Heres Schusters thoughts on the 5th lose of the preaseaon:

To me, preseason means nothing. Watch the NFL preseason, and you can see LT sitting there looking bored because he doesnt play so he doesnt get injured. I get more enjoyment out of playing Madden 06 on my PS3 then watching the a preseason NFL game, but thats because im a Bills fan and we are terrible this year yet again. Preseason helps a little, but to be honest, the first 5 games of the season help more. Competitive matches will always be more valuable to a players fitness, tactical awareness, comfort with his team mates and system etc. then friendlies will where theres constant subbing in and out. Am I worried about the loses? Nah, if they lose 5 out of 7 in the season im worried, but not now.

Heres the game video.
Sometimes I wonder if you people ever look at any of this stuff and if im wasting my time. Lets hope not. Diarra got red carded for a fight, surpirse… Cadiz’s goal was nice, ours were alright. Balboa looked embaressed a bit to score, but then again it was a fluke. Better performance all around, everyone pretty much got in on this game or against Betis. Interesting points:
- Sneijder came on for Guti, so that was confirmed as being Schusters thinking on signing him.
- Cicinho played against Gadiz, full game. Roma bound, I dont really know anymore, Dani Alves isnt Chelsea bound as of now either
- SR and Metz look like a good pairing, Pepe and Metz too. Canna doesnt seem to have jelled with the teo new boys yet, and he was always a little shaky with SR. Dont know who he should be paired with, its open to debate, theres a good post.
- Im surprised Cadiz didnt come right back up, they are a good team with a great fan base. Maybe this year they will
I dont think i need to bother commenting on Diarra fighting, its who he is. Im goin to Sams Club with my mom to get shit for school. ill put some grapevine up later today for the weekend. pzzzzz

Yeah, Dudek really should’ve tried, but I’m not convinced it was that saveable. That ball went straight over the wall, but with enough touch that it didn’t go over the net.

I think you’re being a little hard on Dudek. He is a good goalie, particularly in one-on-one situations. I agree he could’ve made more of an effort on the free kick, but he may have been unsighted (looks like the ball only just cleared the wall). I lay the blame squarely on Schuster for that goal. To change your warmed up goalie for one that hasn’t had a chance to get into the game is farcial. Just because Dudek won the Champions League for Liverpool with his performance on the penalties doesn’t mean he’s going to do it every time. A frivolous substitution and I hope not a sign of erratic decisions to come.

Any thoughts on the new allegations of Madrid swooping to buy Alves and Puerta while using Cicinho in the deal?..
http://www.marca.com/edicion/marca/futbol/1a_division/real_madrid/es/desarrollo/1027039.html if you’re Spanish speakers. It’s Marca, so it’s probably a bunch of silly drivel…and would Sevilla really consider this if they wouldn’t accept €32million for just Alves? I imagine it’s worth thinking about, but I’m not sure that it’s the greatest move on their part.

I usually don’t click the links, because either I would’ve already read them or they’re from RM site. but yea, I see the videos. so keep them coming.
I hate Dudek. He’s a joke. and unless you save penalties 6 out of 10 times, you can’t be regarded as a penalty stopper. When I first heard the transfer rumour, I thought it was a joke. but sadly it was true. even if they argue he came for free, it doesn’t justify. He’s average, thats it. anyone seen him play for liverpool will agree with me if I say he consistently makes 1 or 2 mistakes every match.

I’m not so worried about Dudek; once the regular season begins he’ll be placed firmly on the bench. Saint Casillas will live on (and let’s stop bitching about Dudek at least long enough to acknowledge Casillas has looked as stellar as ever this preseason!). I really don’t like the rumors about Baptista and Cicinho to Alves. I’m willing to part with Cicinho at this point, but not the Beast. Alves is a great back, but a RIGHT back, and we need a left, if anything (no disrespect to Torres).
And Corey, I’m especially greatful for the highlights of the Cadiz match. I missed the game and was having a hell of a time finding them, cheers. And though I’d like to keep our sporting sentiments to football proper, and our comradery alive and well based on such, I am the lifelong bearer of four letters that you might find a bit dispiriting:

It’s inborn, dawg.

Ok well im not a fan of the JETS because I live in upstate new york, binghamton to be exact, and i went to school in rochester, st john fisher, where the bills have there training camp. and i sat by my father when i was 4 and watched them lose the super bowl, and did it again for three straight years. I have been hyper competitive ever since then. lost 9 games in three years of varsity soccer, we played 20 games a season, so 51-9 in three years… Anyways, i think what i will do is respond to these comments with a new post, check for it.

Ready for a shocker? I grew up in Binghamton. The Jets run in the family, but I’m a bills sympathizer. Cheers.

I’m pretty sure Cicinho will do his best to piss off Madrid, including going to Sevilla.
