Grapevine 11/13

First things first, which two of these three fine young gentlemen will be playing for Real Madrid one day?

I wont say, because out of all three, I like Ben Arfa the most but he is the least likely to play for Real based on current crop of transfer rumors. This is going to be a special YouTube filled Grapevine, so get your eyes and ears ready.

Now with that out of the way, here is all of the hard hitting news and stories you readers eagerly await:

- Guti, the quiet blonde genius, was not so low key on a recent antiquing trip to Monaco with wifey Arantxa de Benito. $200,000 was the chump change he threw down on furnitue for the palace he is building in Ibiza. So what you say? I dont really care either, it was an excuse to post this:

- The Spanish rags are hot and heavy for Sao Paolo defender Breno, and if Real were to purchase him for a less then small fee, 10 million that is. This would leave the door open to Canna’s return to Napoli. I tell you, the boys at Marca, Mundo etc. are everyday slueths. No YouTube videos for Breno, damn…

- Radio Marca interviewed Raul’s agent Gines Carvajal, and he had this to say: “A candidate for the presidency of Barca called me to ask if Raul would be prepared to leave Real and join Barca - and that they would receive him with open arms.

“I answered him that it was unthinkable. When I told this to the player, he could not believe it.”

No word on which canidate this was, or is this was true or the agent got misinformation. But come one, this is unthinkable. Its like Pep Guirdiola playing for Real Madrid. It would be a travesty.

- Pepe and Javier Balboa had a tift in training on Friday. Pepe spoke about this matter after the game, saying that the issue had been resolved and there was no need to dwell on the subject. This to me says two things, the squad is competing for places rather vigorously and Balboa may have been left out of the squad because he over reacted to a challenge Pepe put on him. Or because Higuain was back from injury. I prefer Balboa on the right, but Higuain has remarkable skill and can do a job out their. But I see him as the longer term successor to Raul’s spot in the hole, such is his level of skill. Balboa video, enjoy:

- Robinho had these comments after his MoftheM performance Sunday against Mallorca:

“Yes, I did that because Manuel is always telling me how good I am with the ball at my feet, but I need to improve my heading! I celebrated the goal with him because we’ve been working very hard to improve this aspect of my game.

“It was a great cross from Marcelo. I combine well with him on the left. He’s young and knows he has a lot to improve, just like me.”

“I’m very happy with the way I’m playing. I’m here to make my dreams come true - to win trophies with Real Madrid.”

He also said: “When I see Ronaldinho once we all join up for the Brazil games, I’m going to remind him it is Real Madrid that are leaders!”

Fair enough, remind the already disheartened Ronaldinho that he sucks and his team does too.

- The scouts of Real as well as Barca, Sevilla, Atletico etc. are in Brazil for the U-15 South American Champ., with Real paying particular attention to Brazilians Coutinho (Vaso da Gama), Felipe (International de Porto Alegre) and Wellington (Fluminense). Is 15 to young to scout for talent? When I was 15, I was a young sophomore in highschool who was on the varsity squad at my highschool and was no where near ready to play professional soccer. Which is why I write this column. BUT, two of my team mates almost made the U-16 national team for some tournament in Dubai, soooo in conclusion, im rambling.

Anyway, Real are pretty set out Coutinho, with one paper reporting he will move to Madrid in June with his family. Also, Real are ready to finally close the deal for Santos youngster Neymar, who Real were suppose to buy with Robinho but the deal has been blocked by the board. He will also be on display at the tournament.

- Daniel Guiza had this to say about Raul and the game: “Raul is simply a great guy.

“He congratulated me before the game kicked off, wished me luck and told me to grab this chance I have with Spain.”

“We’re angry because to score three goals away from home and still lose makes you look stupid.”

- Real Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia had a loyalty pact not to buy each others players. And that will end when Real bats its eyelashed at Villa, Silva, Abliol and Sunny. Likewise with Barca. These gentlemens agreements dont mean shit to Calderon, he does what he wants. WHATEVA WHATEVE I DO WHAT I WANT!
Here is a clip on Sunny, if you guys dont know who he is yet:

Thats all folks, I am taking a long break from Real Madrid and will be covering the Spanish National team on Hay Liga here http://hayliga.wordpress.com/. Adios

Speaking of transfer rumours, one is about to be pretty effectively quashed: words out that Madrid’s going to up Sergio Ramos’ salary (by over 3 million) and give him a ‘leadership’ position, along with Raul, Castillas, and Guti. It’s good to see that Calderon still has SOME sense in is little pea brain.

Yeah that came from the AC Milan interest mostly, as Ramos mentioned he was not paid as highly as others but that he was calm about the situation. He will play out his career with Real barring an unforseen problem.
