Liveblogging the season opener!
By: Steve | August 25th, 2007well, it looks like most of you in America are going to get the shaft with the Madrid derby being tape-delayed, so unless you’re able to get it streamed, I guess you’ll have to make do with my first attempt at a liveblog. Thanks to Sky Sports, the derby will be shown live here in the UK, at 19:00 UTC (2pm Eastern, 11am Pacific) on Sky Sports Xtra. Join me here and I’ll try to answer comments too.
7:00: Ok, it’s 7pm, some 8-ball championship has just finished on SSX. Can’t wait for this match. In reference to the first few comments, it’s pretty hard to find a guaranteed English-language streaming feed. I used to use livefooty as well when I was living in Germany, but since I’ve moved to the UK, it’s great having La Liga on TV every weekend. Good luck to those of you on the other side of the pond.
7:08: OH MUTHA… just intro’d the Sky Sports Spanish Football program, and apparently there’s a legal battle ongoing in Spain between 2 media groups and oh, guess what, that means we won’t be watching the derby, but the Sevilla-Getafe match instead. Something about TV rights and the incumbent company and some upstart trying to get them. Bollocks.
7:10: Apparently there’s no end to the battle in sight. It’s a financial, social and political battle. Not sure how it could be social, but that’s what commentator Guillem Balague called it. Bollocks. Seriously, this blows so hard.
7:27: Ok, a good friend of mine is moving to Florence and he’s got his going-away party tonight, to which I was going to go late, but without an actual match to watch, I’m not gonna bother trying to find a streaming source to do this liveblog. Many apologies, but of course, this is outta my hands.
7:28: Oy, I haven’t even left yet and it’s already 1-0 for Atletico (thanks for the update atleti)? WTF? Well, if the shine isn’t already off of Schuster yet, the fans at the Bernabeu will let him know.
7:38: Alright, I’m out. Hope you’re having better luck than I am.
8:09: Ok, from Soccernet’s match page, here’s the lineup: Casillas, Drenthe, Cannavaro, Pepe, Ramos, Diarra, Guti, Sneijder, Robinho, Raul, Ruud. I know Real Madrid’s website always lists Robinho as a midfielder, but he’s so not one, so this is more or less the 4-3-3 that I espoused earlier, with Drenthe and Raul in for new signings Heinze and Robben who aren’t match fit yet. Unbelievably, Aguero scored in the first minute, but Raul levelled in the 15th. Ok, seriously, now I’m out.

I’m going to stream it on livefooty.doctor-serv.com which may or may not be in Chinese. Normally it’s in English as the GolTV feed, but since GolTV isn’t showing it, they may not either…

1-1. No feed available, so I’ll watch the replay later. Hopefully there won’t be any defensive blunders.
Vamos Atleti, coño!

Metzelder on for Cannavaro. I guess he wasn’t fit from the start and Schuster gambled.
