Breaking News: Drenthe transfer a done deal!

By: Steve | August 9th, 2007

Eurosport is reporting the protracted transfer of Dutch left-back Royston Drenthe is as good as gold. Real Madrid and Feyenoord have agreed a transfer fee of 14 million euros, according to the report, and the player is on his way to Madrid to complete the signing.

Madrid, who have no natural left-backs or left-wingers after the departure of Brazil international Roberto Carlos, will look to press Drenthe into duty after he starred for Feyenoord and the Dutch U21 sides in the close season. Look for Madrid to step up their chase of fellow Dutch left-sider Arjen Robben to add more balance to the team.

Here’s a look at Drenthe in action:

There have been so many rumors around this kid that I’ll believe it when he’s standing next to Di Stefano with a kit in his hands.

Poor Drenthe, Madrid was always his #2 choice, but since Barca already has Abidal & Sylvinho…
