Comment Away: Juve vs. Real 2:45 Eastern
By: Corey | October 21st, 2008So I am miserable at liveblogs, just awful. So I am not going to attempt one, and I dont think Steve will have one up either. Juve fans as well as the usual Madrid fans are more then welcome to talk aout the match here. So leave your comments here, I will be posting a few comments from time to time as well as the lineups in a bit. Also, I can confirm for everyone that BATE just held Zenit to a 1-1 draw in Russia, which makes our qualification just that more easy.
Lineups:
Juventus

3 Giorgio Chiellini (CLD)
33 Nicola Legrottaglie (CRD)
28 Christian Molinaro (LD)
21 Zdenek Grygera (RD)
19 Claudio Marchisio (CLM)
22 Mohamed Sissoko (CRM)
11 Pavel Nedved (LM)
32 Marco Marchionni (RM)
10 Alessandro Del Piero (CLF)
8 Carvalho De Oliveira Amauri (CRF)
Real Madrid

1-0 awful defending for Real and a ball that Casillas should have saved. Pathetic.

Corey, sounds like we aren’t playing sound football, a little bit undisciplined? I’m only able to follow along on ESPN gamecast and can’t see at all what’s going on…keep me posted on the details. Thanks.

We have no midfield play, the formation is not working with both Sneijder and VDV who is absolutely invisible out there. Changes need to be made at halftime, bring on Ruben.

The football is pretty bad, Juve is snapping at our heels whenever we have the ball and they are passing it to the forwards with so much ease. We cant retain possession for long, which hurts our style of play so much, but what you expect with a wafer-thin midfield.

Yeah sounds like we really miss Diarra and need to place Ruben in there for a holding mid. I have no idea why Schuster decided to start two completely defenseless mids, and even more so, I don’t know why he decided for a three-attack. From what I understand (of course I’m not watching) it sounds like we are playing a 4-3-3, when we really need that extra holding middie in there. I think you’ll see a change made at half.

You guys are playing some long balls, did not think that was Madrid’s style.

And it sounds like they are down to 12 total men since Marchiso went out?

Wow a pitiful 1 shot on goal with such an attacking formation?? Gotta make a switch

Legro, Iaquinta, and Mellberg are listed in the squad, they’ve recovered since Sunday. Haven’t seen the ball though.

Raul and Higuain are so useless unless they get the ball at their feet around the box. Our midfield cant hold the ball, so there is alot of long balls from the back and no possession what so ever. Its really sad, I cant believe how terrible the play is. Schuster needs to fix the big mistake he has created.

Legro is starting at CB, while Melberg was warming up on the side during the 1st half.
