Diego Capel on the Cheap?

By: Corey | April 11th, 2008

Could Real secure Diego Capel for a rather knocked down price of 12 million euro? It seems thats what is being suggested by the press today.

The 20-year-old’s agent, Rene, is the brother of Sergio Ramos and during negotiations over the Madrid defender’s new contact, Capel’s name was put on the table after his lowly buy-out clause was revealed.

Capel needs to play 4 more games in order for him clause to rise to 15 million, but even then, Real seem to have the preferred option as Capel has eyes only for playing in the Bernabeu. After making his debut at 16 under Juan Capparros, he has blossomed this year under Manolo Jimenez, and is a strong canidate for a national team call up after the EURO this summer (not to brag, but I have had him in my Pro Evo team since he was 16, so I definately spotted his talent early, example here http://real.theoffside.com/team-news/randomness.html).

Is this a good move for Real? Surely it would mean Drenthe would be loaned out next year and would put the future of Robinho in doubt. Tell me what you think. Personally, I would still prefer Jesus Navas, as our right side lacks a proper winger.

On another note, Guti has signed his lifetime contract finally, here is the details on it:

The deal that lasts until 2011 and will be automatically renewed every season after that if he appears in the 30 or more official matches.

Hooray for that, lets hope he finished the campaign in stunning form, we could us a little more 7-1 against Valladolid Guti for our remaing fixtures.

Don’t count him in your side yet.

Another good year at Sevilla gains him more money…and it’s really inevitable that he’ll have another good year.

I agree with Ryan. Even if he goes to Real, he won’t go for €15million. You know as well as anyone that price inflation is absurd for Real and this will be no exception, especially once Del Nido decides it’s time to weigh in (maybe €15million for his “boots”!).

No way he goes for less than €20m.

I’ll stand in line behind you two. I think Capel fits the profile of what they need, but not necessarily of what they like to buy. His agent might bring in Real Madrid as a bargaining option but if he leaves I think it might be away from Spain. He’s a little slight for the Prem, but they’ll be throwing crazy money in North London.

If Real does indeed pick up Capel it has to mean someone is leaving. Robinho? Or Capel sits on the bench all season. I don’t know doesn’t seem like a good move for Real, although this kid does have a very bright future.

I’ll give Real Madrid my used jockstrap and spandex shorts for €15 million. Capel stays put!

Well the idea here is that his agent told Real his buy out clause was 12 million, but it would increase to 15. That means its the minimum bid needed, but it doesnt mean Sevilla cant haggle for something higher. I personally dont want him, he needs a few more years in the oven before he is worth the money.

I would love Capel, but Del Nido is worst than Donald Trump mixed with with a used car sales man.

I don’t believe Diego would be happy outside of Spain. He’s staying put.

The last thing we need right now is ANOTHER left winger. And while Capel would be near the top of my list if we did, his theatrics and tendency to waste time rolling around after non-existant fouls is a major detractor, for me. Let’s just hang on to Robinho and Robben and Drenthe for now, and hope Capel goes to Getafe.
