Disgruntled Grapevine 01/11
By: Corey | January 11th, 2008I do not want to discuss the cup game last night, it was pitiful. I will say Balboa looks a long term injury which is to bad because he looked real good the shirt time he was in, while Raul and Dudek picked up knocks on their knees. And Saviola is BALLS. Here is some of the latest transfer speculation as a bonus for my lack of a match review:
- Antonio Cassano will never return to Madrid again, as he looks set to stay with Samp, thank god. Real want 4, Samp offered 3.75 million. Tomato Tomoto ay? Not the kind of scrilla you want but at this point take what you can get.

- Whats the big deal with this Mancini character? Sven at City had a raging flesh rocket for him, then denied it by saying it was just morning wood, while his name sake Roberto Mancini is a walking hard on for any non-Italian player. But does Pedja have a chubby for him too? Please say no, I could care less to take him on. Will the boners ever stop over this guy? Just sign the damn Roma contract already so we can all live in peace and conserve what limited blood we have for the rest of our body.

You guys cant see the html code, but this photo was swiped from the Roma Offside through Google Images. So cool!
- Royston Drenthe is not leaving on loan to Fiorentina. A summer bid from Fiorentina for 10 million is expected which will be turned down as well. Probably with the amount of injuries we have, most notably Balboa, he will get more of a shot. He did alright against Mallorca, OooOooh damn, not talking about that game, my lips are sealed.

- We lost out on Breno. Damn. Becuase we need a pre-Madona 18 year old center back who takes up a Euro spot. Well, we are focused solely on Ezeqiual Garay, and for good reason. He is a better defender, he will probably end up being cheaper, and he has 2 years La Liga experience, and did I mention he scores from corners ever month? 8 million is the rumored amount for a move this winter, and seeing our injury concenrs it may be a good idea. Thank god for Miguel Angel Portugal, who is pushing the deal, becuase Pedja would probably try and sign Titus Bramble or Matteo Ferrari!

- MU says Ronaldo is theirs. No shit.
- And finally, for Gods sake, sell Saviola please. How do you miss that shot?!?!? (Extra ?’s and !’s for emphasis!)
No Levante preview folks, I dont even know if its needed. We all know who will start, and we all know it will be a boring game that we win. Schuster needs to start putting on the so called style he promised, because atleast with Capello I knew I wasnt gonna see much, but this is just a big hoax so far. Case and point, the first half of the season. Adios

Hey Corey - word on the street (or according to As, which is about as credible as the street) is that Madrid have reached a deal with Ashanti Gold for Daniel Opare, you know anything about that? Opare was all the hype in the U-17 WC, played primarily as full back, but seemed fairly versatile. Aparently Madrid are just waiting to get things like papers and passport in order, and there’s a possibility he might start practicing with 1st team before the end of the year. Verify? Heard anything else? Know anything more about this Opare fella? cheers.

Well John, I forgot to put that in todays post, thanks for the reminder. Its not confirmed, but transfers for youth players are never officially confirmed, like how that Peruvian striker was signed but no word of it on the official site. Opare is a strong player, fast and attack minded. Schuster likes the look of him so he wants him to train with the first team and play with Castilla, whether that can be hammered out after the ACN is up in the air, he cant negotiate while on international duty so who knows. I like the idea here, but we have bought a young foriegn full back before and he has so far not turned up in the first team (Krol). So who knows john?

Garay has played about 17 games already this season, meaning a winter move to another Spanish team is impossible. I think the reports were just lazy journalists reqriting old stories. We will make a move for him in the summer, with Marcelinho saying that he would like him to join a bigger club, but as for the winter market I don’t see us buying or selling anyone I am afraid.

Ryan spot on mate. Garay will probably go over to Casa del Merseyside or stay. Opare was brilliant in the U/17 WC with Ghana. They took the final thanks to him. Levante will be a snoozer. Hope San Iker’s tummy gets better so he can be back in goal for los Merengues.

Ryan, the transfer talk about Garay moving in the winter is misinterpreted. It means Portugal/maybe Pedja is pushing a deal worth 8 million during the winter market for a summer move so that he and Santander know Real are firmly interested and he doesnt move to Liverpool right now. So in that aspect, its a good idea.
As for Opare, as Elisa said, he is a good player, but then again these youth tournaments dont always have the true professional talent on display, just the most developed teenager. So while the video i have seen of him is good, like all Castilla players, we must be patient and track his progress before we annoint him the next ex-great player.
