Your new guest blogger!!! and bad news on a somehow exciting day…
By: Cesar | June 30th, 2009Hello everybody, this is Cesar, your regular visitor to the Real Madrid Offside. I will be holding down the fort while Corey’s away on vacation, and I’ll try my best to keep up to the high standards that Corey has made us grown accustomed to, so here goes my FIRST EVER BLOG, and I apologize in advance for any mistakes I make (this a learn as you go experience for me).
In what shoul’ve been a great day for us madridistas, with Kaka’s presentation at the Bernabeu (so excited, I’ll write a post about that), we learned today that our team won’t offer De la Red a space on next year’s squad, due to the inconclusiveness of all the tests he’s had to go through in the last year, which to me is a real shame, because I think Ruben is the only canterano who could command a starting spot on next season’s team. Supposedly the club has asked Ruben to be part of the organization, and that to me is a great gesture on the club’s part.
Maybe he starts working with Castilla players, or with younger players in the lower divisions, that would be a real good job for him, given he’s a great player, but also a local product and 100% committed to the cause, so until you’re back on the pitch, GOOD LUCK RUBEN!!!!
Now, to the happy news!!!!
Kaka’s presentation is scheduled for today at 8.30 pm (local spanish time), and I’m really excited about that. He’ll be the first player introduced this season, and I think I can speak for almost all madridistas, that he was the one we all wanted; he’s the kind of player we like on our team, humble, hard working, with world class ability, determination, and who’s capable of winning a match by themselves, something we’ve been lacking since Gornaldo left the club.
What number is he going to wear??? Where will he live??? Will he get along with CR, Raul, and the rest of the team??? etc, etc, etc, at least we’ll find the answer to the first one during his presentation, but my money’s on Florentino giving him number 5, as a Zidane and Cannavaro before.
Kaka’s coming from a great Confed Cup, where he was voted best player of the tournament, and where he guided Brazil (along with Luis Fabiano, Lucio, Melo, and Ramires) to the crown in an exciting final against the USA. Hopefully, this will be the first of many individual and collective trophies he wins as a madridista, so WELCOME KAKA!!!
I’ll write a more detailed post about Kaka’s presentation, and I’ll also be writing until Corey’s back, so let me know if you liked my first blog, and how can I improve as a blogger.
Thanks everybody for your support, HALA MADRID!!!!!

Nice job Cesar. Here is the article from AS on De la Red: http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/madrid-recomienda-red-siga-jugar/dasftb/20090630dasdasftb_21/Tes
Sad news indeed.

The search for a new holding mid to replace De La begins…now. Disappointed as well to hear such news Cesar. I think every poster here had high hopes for Ruben, but if playing football puts his life in danger, then it’s just going to be a bitter pill for us to swallow. I really do hope all of this gets sorted out and he is cleared to play again, he’s got so much potential. As of this point, I think we’re better off looking intently for a replacement though. Nice post Cesar welcome to the dark side of the blog mwahahahahaha.

Awwwwwwhh. Cute stuff you two. And glad to hear you’ll be holding down the fort for Corey, Cesar.
The De la Red news is just plain depressing. He’s the player I’ve been most excited about seeing develop into a starting role with Madrid. I’m not giving up hope yet, but at this point, I think Madrid should focus on Xabi Alonso, who apparently has indicated he wants his future sorted out by July 19th.

Very disturbed reading Ruben’s news. Was hoping against hope that he would come back this season but…anyways lets wish him luck and keep our fingers crossed that he is cleared to play. Getting back to the point of Gago, I think he is on his way out. He hasn’t lived up to the hype(Redondo) at all. Would not regret seeing his back as we have Lass and Diarra although I think Diarra will also leave coz maybe Xabi Alonso is on his way…

my bet is Gago will likely leave, but I haven’t heard or read anything about prospective clubs – so for now the official story is that he’s the number 5.
Another ‘Galactico’ is due to be announced today or tomorrow – speculation has that it will be Benzema, but he is reported already to be going to Manu.
I wonder.another clash of the titans over a signing?
