Granero is back.. but Parejo is going the other way he is going to Getafe and it should be announced officially tomorrow but we will have an option to buy again just like we did with Granero

This is great news perez is slowly but surely delivering on everyone of his promise This signing is not only good because he is canterano but also because he is a very good player who will be able to cover 3 positions ( LW , ACM , RW) so its like we bought 3 players with this signing alone Now let’s get rid of some players and get alonso and arbeloa ( if not promote a LB from within)

Madridista4 I had no idea that parejo was part of the deal I wanted him to stay with us but him going to getafe will be good for his development and inserting the buy back clause in his contract was a smart move by the management good luck dani !

Absolutely excellent. And since I’m a closet Getafe fan, I’m happy to see our relationship with the club continue (We sent Codina there, as well as Parajo, but in an unrelated deal). Granero probably won’t have much of an impact this season, but he’ll be a great utility player and it will be good for him to acclimate to the squad, and the environment/pressure that is Real Madrid and the Santiago Bernabeu.
Best of Luck, Pirate! We’re all going to be cheering for you!

ummmm, i wonder who from the midfield will leave after this move. Who do you guys think should leave? robben VDV sneijder… i think two will be leaving, and one staying… i would definetly want to see robben out, but really boggled about the other one. It’s more likely to be VDV but sneijder will get us more money. I would love for corey to include a post about this. specifying each of the players strengths and weaknesses. Also what would happen if alonso came along…

Negredo, Raul, Higuain, Benzema, van Nistelrooy, Huntelaar; Robben, Sneijder, VdV, M.Diarra, Lass, Gago, Guti, Kaka, Ronaldo, Granero, Marcelo; Torres, Ramos, Pepe, Heinze, Metzelder, Garay, Drenthe, Albiol; Casillas, Dudek, Adan and whichever of the canteranos we might give squad numbers to (Palanca, Tebar, Anton, etc.) – That’s a hefty squad, and we still don’t have what I’d consider a CL grade left back. From my list (let me know if I forgot anyone) we’ve got:
6 strikers
11 midfielders
8 defenders
3 keepers
————-
28 playersAt the least, I expect to see two strikers (Huntelaar and likely van Nistelrooy) and two midfielders (VdV and one of M.Diarra, Sneijder and Robben) go. I also expect Drenthe to go out on loan and Heinze to get sold, and in their places either Xabi Alonso(doubtful) and a defender or two defensive signings.
So here’s my out list:
Huntelaar, van Nistelrooy; VdV, M.Diarra; Heinze, Drenthe (loan).

Bassam: My squad over view is where I say who stays and who goes, and do a little on the strengths and weaknesses of the players. Read it here: http://real.theoffside.com/team-news/real-squad-preview-0809.html
John: With Torres (Getafe club pres) a card holding Real Madrid member, the links are always going to be there. And I like that, because besides Atleti, we have a friendly neighbor. They still run us tight in games, but they also provide a spring board for some of our youngsters which is big. I expect another young player besides Parejo to do there this year as Michel will have his eye on some Castilla players. Or maybe Drenthe could do well there?

From John’s list of 28 players, we need to lose 3 players to trim it down to 25, and perhaps another 2 if Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa make it in….
I think the 5 should be:
1.) Huntelaar
2.) Heinze
3.) Drenthe (loan)
4.) Van Der Vaart
5.) GagoThat list is drawn up based on the fact that I grudgingly accept that we are not able to send Salgado off to retirement and get rid of our 32-year old diva prospect: Guti.
All in all, well done to our management to bring Granero back. It’s a clear step FROM Zidanes (mega-cracks) & Pavones (Canteranos) TOWARDS Cristianos (mega-cracks) & Graneros (PROVEN Canteranos).
Granero would make for a great understudy to Kaka and CR96. He will have to fight for a place vs. the 3 Dutchmen (Sneijder, Robben & VDV)… some of whom might get transferred anyway.
We still need a left back. A Good One.

Is the Parejo deal a loan or transfer? I read on Goal that he wants a loan deal with Getafe having a purchase deal included after the loan. I do think Parejo should play regularly and mature as a player and going to Getafe would be a good move. But i do want to see him playing for madrid in the future, maybe replacing Guti someday. Goodluck to Parejo and welcome home Granero! Looking forward to seeing him play on sunday in the peace cup.

this is the deal that i am really happy about.more so than kaka and CR96 even. but i still would like xabi alonso in white. although he has been touted as a backup for alonso,i dont think granero is suited to the regista role. we need a player who can sit deep and direct the play from the midfield.and provide defensive cover in a double pivot so that we are not caught out in a counterattack.granero is not that. de la red was but he is out. alonso is needed very much by us.
we gave a superb relationship with getafe. it benefits both clubs. we got a developing ground for our canteranos where they can gain experience and mature. they got a ready supply of players at very low prices. quid pro quo.i think its better than bringing a player straight into the first team and take a huge gamble on him.much higher risk of burning our hands there.

Viva granero nd thanks 4 coming back home.from john’s list i would have this players sold
OUT: Van der vaart{€15}, robben{€25m}, heinze{€5m}, salgado{free but unlikely}, huntelaar{ loan cus the pay back clause won’t benefit us}, negredo{€16m, he has great potential but can’t get much chance esp when ruud returns}.
IN: Arbeloa{€5m}, palanca and velayos.
We don’t need alonso cus sneijder amd guti{when on-form} can fill in. I WANT YOUR RESPONSE.

We need Alonso and I kinda want Robben to stay. And I would prefer that Ruud and Huntelaar leave and Negredo stays but I dunno if anyone would buy Ruud considering his age, recent injury and wage demands.

I Hate Madrid the transfer window isn’t closing till late august we will get a left backs , but we don’t another CB ( we have garay , metzelder , pepe , albiol ) and a replacement for gago or diarra as you claim since one of them will stay ( preferably diarra ) and alonso will most certainly come
And ronaldo , kaka and robben can’t keep possession ? Lol i’d like to think if players like abidal and busquet could keep possession then the former 3 should be able to as well no ?
As for us never being able to win the CL well I can’t comment on the future you’re the fortune teller herePosted from

Obviously I Hate Madrid is up to date with our transfers. So is Garay an attacking midfielder too? We got two center backs to replace the one that left. We do need a left back, but lets face it, the options aren’t much out there so the board is taking its time to see the options.
I would love it if you can explain to me how Kaka can not hold the ball and dictate play. That is kind of his style of play. Holds ball and then makes fast runs. L. diarra was one of our better performers last season, so i think he will stay thank you.
Get your facts straight man.
Corey thank you for the link, I’ve read it before, but it was such a long post i forgot it
Thanks anyways

Granero (take notes, IHM) is actually rather good at holding possession, though in a way that can look kind of clumsy (he skirts around changing direction in short lateral steps, keeping his back to the defender until a passing option presents itself. Think Xavi just much less fluid.). He’s got great pace, good crossing ability, his vision can be a bit lacking, finishing is descent, but his work rate, especially while wearing white, should make up for it. Unfortunately, from the games I’ve watched he tends to shrug off defensive duties a fair amount. Hopefully that will change.
