By: Corey | October 10th, 2008So some of you probably know already, but the Derbi Madrileno is the upcoming league fixture next Sunday, the 19th. During the international weekend, Al of the Atletico Madrid Offside will be teaming up to bring you all the coverage you can handle for this very big game. I am going to start off with some recent videos of recent games that I enjoyed. And some back ground stats. Great selection of past Derbi’s Corey. An interesting note: Both Higuain and Sneijder scored their first (regular season) Real Madrid goals in the Derbis - the one’s displayed above. And Higuain’s was set up by - oh no! - Antonio Cassano.

Interesting selection of videos. I struggled a bit to find videos as well, so I decided to give a glimpse of the fan support and what goes on during Derbi matches.

Question: Does Barca’s win add any pressure on E.E. to win if not outperform the 6-1 victory? When Barca dismantled Gijon 6-1 you guys answered backwith a 7-1 victory, will you and can you match Beautifull Barca?

No, I don’t think so; the press and some fans (like you) want to make a big deal out of “Farcas” trashing of “Patetico Madrid”, and how if we don’t beat them at least 7-1 it would be a failure. That’s just stupid, every game is different, and I think it was a coincidence what happened to Sporting in back to back games agaist Farza and Real. I just want our boys to play a good game and come out with the 3 points, but that will be difficult against a motivated Patetico, so we’ll see
Take care everybody

And btw, keep tuned for the annual Eto’o outburst, it’s meant to happen sooner or later!!!!

quite aware of that thanks. It will happen sooner. I’m ready for it. Are you ready for Barça?

I wouldnt want to match Beautiful Barca. A 1-0 win against Atleti is more satisfying then a 7-1 win against Gijon any way you look at it.

From a Barca fan’s perspective, I think that it would be rediculous to expect a repeat thrashing just one jornada later.
If anything, Atleti are going to want to save some face in this game, and play very cautiously. All derbi passion aside, i think Atletico know that if they go trying to avenge the Barca game against you guys, they’ll open the game to much as risk getting hit with a 3-0, 4-0.
But like i said, I think Aguirre will have his men play steady, carefull, industrious football. patiently defend, make the attacks count, and get back down quicly.
I doubt Madrid fans will be chasing a goleada anyways, im sure taking 3 points at Atletico would staisfy most.
Those are my two cents.
