Okay, I've been corrected. Then wow, that is bad officiating, but still, Getafe can put the ball back into play without the linesman's flag up.

What a crazy turn of events

I wasn't aware that the linesman didn't put his flag up.

But I find that strange. The ref immediately looks to his linesman to see if the flag is up. If it isn't up the I believe it's not the referee's decision to call it offsides.

In the game, the players didn't look stunned that it was an offsides call, which makes me think the flag was up.

This is true Ryan, but if the linesmen's flag would have been raised, which if I am not wrong, usually indicates an offside call, the team wouldnt have dallied around celebrating and would have hustled off after the Getafe players. Instead, with out a flag up, they all looked around to see what was going on and reacted late. So while I do not disagree with the offside call per say, I disagree with the referee not stopping play to explain the decision. Without a linesmen's flag, how would that group of celebrating players known what was going on?

For everyone yelling, the goal stands. No matter if he was offsides or not, Getafe can restart the game as soon as they put the ball down and into play.

Aupa Geta!

I think with the rediculous nature of this call everyone will stop with the "pro-Madrid" referee decisions debate, but this one clearly didnt go our way and cost us the game.

Raul not Robben, yeah, while I exaggerated the truth is the refs call was still legitimate. Barca is in second still and I won't get my hopes up too much yet, but suddenly the next clasico is looking even more important.

First of all Nolan, it was not Robben that was offside, so clearly not by a mile. They supposedly called it on Raul, even though the shot from Van Nistelrooy was a shot and not a pass, but Raul was the one offside technically and therefore in a better place to recover the deflection. The most important thing to note is that the line refs flag did not go up, even Michael Laudrup admitted this in his post-match press conference. The flag stayed down causing all of the Real Players to celebrate. The ref then proceeded to let the ball get back in play without so much as a warning to Madrid. Poor poor officiating, and Madrid certainly has cause for a grievance. Even the commentators on TV said they were flabbergasted and that in all their years playing or calling games they had never seen something like that. Pathetic officiating. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, but make no mistake, there is plenty of league left, some of our injured guys are coming back soon, and Barca is still in second place.

Robben was offside by a mile...horrible luck but the goal was perfectly legit. I blame overconfidence more than anything else.
