Ronaldo isnt a striker, so that doesnt really apply Jake. But we do need a suitable backup striker, because Ruud was injured for a portion of the season and ithurt us, and Higuain usually wasnt good for goals off the bench. It isnt broke so we are not fixing it, we are improving upon Soldado and Saviola, both major failures.

“Ruud and Raul are undeniable starters”. I don’t know… Saviola looks like he’ll be putting pressure on them. We all know how good he is. What was the point of him going to Madrid? More game time? Cos that really worked out.

You guys don’t really need a big name striker do you? If at aint broke, don’t fix it, as they say. Oh wait, of course, you NEED Ronaldo.

Gonz- I dont think Villa fits into the team, because Ruud and Raul are undisputed starters, and because they deliver the goods they will continue to be. I think Villa is a fantastic player, but I cant see him coming to Real to sit on the bench. I wish Real had bought him when he was still with Zaragoza, but these things happen.

David Villa’s name has also been mentioned this summer, although the player has not stated any desire of leaving Valencia. I think he would be very valuable additiona, and, despite a relatively poor season, his performance at Euro 2008 has been excellent (not just the goals, his workrate and harrying for the ball continuously puts me in mind of Raúl at his best – he could be the one that finally puts Raúl on the bench)
