Im pretty sure his grand father is a Real supporter, he although he is from Cadiz so who really knows? Rafeals favorite club was Real Madrid, so the Valencia stuff doesnt bother me. He realized Ajax was a sinking ship and took a move to a team to showcase his talents. I also think he was eager to move closer to his roots, because even though he is Dutch, he certainly seems very close to his grandparents and his mothers spanish heritage.

I would be very upset if Robinho leaves. Aside from a few immature episodes, I think he is a fine footballer, and I like the way he can roll with everyone on the squad when he is on his game – so in short: i hope VdV gets another number

His grandfather probably cried because he’s a Barca supporter. Just kidding.

Anyway, good luck to him. I’m a bit put off by how overanxious he’s seemed to get that transfer to a ‘big’ club (see last summer’s Valencia debacle) and the way that showed some disrespect to Hamburg. But all good footballers are ambitious, he just runs his mouth about it a little too much perhaps. He blogs pretty regularly, so I hope he’ll give us some insights about the dynamics of the Real Madrid locker room.

Not yet, but that should be announced anyday. Rafeal really is a wholesome character, bringing his whole family along, grand parents included, to the presentation. From what I read his wife, Sylvie, gets along incredibly well with the rest of the family, which is not something you expect from a WAG. He has really shown himself in his interviews to be a very humble, family oriented player. And I like that, but what I like most is how proud he is to join the team, even calling his grandfather at 3am to tell him “Grandpa, I have signed for La Real” with which his grand father began to cry. That says it all my friends, he is gonna be a great player for us.

Not yet. Squad numbers have been decided very late in the last two seasons. We will have to wait and watch the robinho situation. He might get the 10 if that happens.
