Minus Another Callejon
By: Corey | August 11th, 2008
Juanmi Callejon has been sold to Mallorca just days after impressive performances in the Emirates Cup and the friendly in Colombia. The winger was said to have impressed Bern Schuster very much but the idea of him sitting on the bench, or worse, in the stands for a season was not appealing to Juanmi or Schuster. So Juanmi follows his brother Jose out of the club on a permanent deal with buy back clauses and sell on fees and such. Here is the official statement:
Real Madrid C.F and RCD Mallorca have agreed to the transfer of Castilla player Juanmi Callejón. Real Madrid reserves the right to repurchase the player as well as percentage of future earnings should the player be sold. Real Madrid would like to thank the player for his services and wish him the best of luck with his new club.
Im sad to see him go, but he, along with Jose Callejon, Nieto, David Moreno, Dani Parejo and Esteban Granero all need to be playing first team football. So we will watch his performances intently for Manzanos Mallorca, as I assume he will get chances to shine, such has Borja Valero, another former youth team graduate. Good luck to Juanmi, I hope we see you again next year!
