Ramos is notorious for his disciplinary record, so is Guti. What changed? Why has Sergio gone all diva? I hope he is not believing all the press and hype about himself a la Ronaldhino? He needs to stay grounded.

And Robinho seems to be clashing with Schuster and co. Never a dull moment in the Madrid dressing room.

Understood, but if the cantera players don’t get much play, they will leave or be unhappy and not play to their potential. It’s a difficult balance.

Agreed john, I am sick of the boring Liverpool and Chelsea grinding out results to get to the semi final every year, I was thinking of writing an article about whether the Champions League is relevant any longer.

As fo your proposed signing Elisa, we dont get rid of Balboa, Metzelder or Baptista, but Diarra is a distinct possibility even though I would keep him too. As for additions, I like Benzema alot, and I obviously like Garay and Capel, but Capel has no place in the team. Other then that, no RVV or Dani Alves for me, while I would like to keep Schuster on for another year. Laudrup will coach our team one day, but not next season for sure, he still needs time at Getafe and possibly another club, he is still a little wet behind the ears. He did wonders with Brondby though, cant ignore that.

Elisa – that’s quite a wish list. I hope you don’t mind me giving my two cents, but here it is: I’d rather not see Baptista go, for one, and though I love watching Capel race down the line, A.)We have plenty left wingers and B.)He’s a diving, time-wasting, crying little cheat. Maddening to watch him ham up a tap on the shin, and a shame that such talent is marred by theatrics.

Of your in list I like Garay, Villa and Benzema, and possibly Van der Vaart. Ramos is more than enough for right back, and I don’t want him to have to compete with Alves. I’d like the continuity of the same coach for two years (though Laudrup looks to be a stud) and finally, when it comes down to it, I like the fact that we’re showing faith in younger players (Drenthe, Gago, Balboa, Sneijder – and soon De la Red and Granero) rather than just bringing in superstars. I’m not keen on a return to the Galactico era, much more excited to see the present squad develop. So I hope we don’t have another bench shifting, lockerroom disturbing offseason with busloads of players coming and going.

elmeromero: I was cheering on Arsenal – primarily because I’m sick of seeing Liverpool in the semi’s every f***ing year – and I feel you with the refs call. To make things worse, there was the penalty against Hleb in the box during the first game that went uncalled, a foul far more flagrent then the one called in the second. It’s hard to consider it a fair result, then, but as the saying goes: “The ref’s decision is final.” Love it or hate it, that’s football.

I suppose that instant replay might help this situation (or it might undermind what little authority the refs have left on the pitch) but I guess I would just prefer things stayed the way they are. And the idea of advertisements during replays? That’s one of the reasons I love soccer; play isn’t interupted by ads. (It infuriates me when I’m at a live American football game, say Soldier Field, and the play on the field stops so that the folks at home can get force fed a bunch of advertisements.)

Steve, nothing new on Jozy. I could ask Dave, but I doubt he has heard anything either. I would love to see him added to the squad, he would definately get a shot at the first team, but being American means he takes up an non-EU spot, so that will affect whether he plays for Castilla first or not.

Elmero- I cant stand Liverpool, Man U or Chelsea, they bore me to death and they play like they expect ref decisions to go their way. I am in favor of instant replays, a challenge system like the NFL makes sense. American fans could cope with it, and on challenges commercials could be run which would be interesting for advertisers, definately helping the US soccer market. I agree about the flow of the game theory and the authority of the ref, but the games speed means that no one man can catch everything, and the trend these days seems to be making more bad calls then good calls in a game.

I didnt say we were gonna buy Messi, I simply said that he is the top of my transfer rating price, everyone else falls below him. Investment in the back may happen, but we need departures first. Namely Salgado, Canna (I dont want him to go but I know he will) and maybe Metzelder. We need a comanding central defender and then a young prospect, so Garay and another person. Any ideas everyone?
