Murcia Preview
By: Corey | November 24th, 2007
Real Murcia is the opponent on Saturday, 4pm eastern. Real have 24 of 25 players in a healthy enough state to play, so the squad will not be lacking anything when the travel south east down to coast. If you guys and gals dont know, Murcia is in between Valencia and Malaga, with Alicante being its closest big city neighbor. This match starts a hectic 8 match stretch through only a month. This hectic schedule culminates in a trip to the Camp Nou for El Classico.
As I wacth Bear Grylls tear through a dead zebra, eating the meat that lions didnt want to, I wonder if this is a good model for Murcia’s season. The lions, or the established teams in La Liga, have already slayed Murcia, the zebra. Murcia has gone down a few times, and has drawn the games they could have won. On 13 points, they are 13th in the table. But 13 points and 13th place is misleading, as 19th place, Real Betis, have 11 points. Then again, 8th place, Zaragoza, is 17 points. So Murcia is in a precarious position, and with Real being Bear Grylls, the meat thats left may see Murcia drop down to the relegation zone with a loss.
Real on the other hand are top of the table. Seeing as how I completely forgot to post this yesterday, I will keep this brief. Here is Real’s squad list:
SQUAD LIST
Goalkeepers: Casillas & Dudek.
Defenders: Pepe, Ramos, Cannavaro, Marcelo, Metzelder & Torres.
Midfielders: Diarra, Gago, Guti, Drenthe & Robben.
Forwards: Higuaín, Saviola, Robinho, Van Nistelrooy & Raúl
Murcia are hard hit by injuries and suspensions, with Curro Torres, Pablo Garcia, Mejia, Pignol and Reguiero are all out of this game. I will give Real the benefit of the doubt and expect a win, probably by a scoreline of 1-0 or 2-0. Murcia will counter attack and thats about it, so Real will have to stay patient and take their chances. Ill give you a full recap after the match, again, its at 4pm eastern time today. Adios, and HALA MADRID!
