I agree John, Garay is definately the likely arrival, although there are lots of other possibilities but he will be fairly cheap for us and is already proven to be very solid in La Liga.

Xabi Alonso would be a great addition, and he is happy with not starting every single game, so why not swap Heinze? Heinze certainly wanted to play for Pool.

And Marcelo is the long term solution at left back no doubt, but then again Torres is incredible to me, a very very solid defender, and unless Sergio Ramos moves into the middle he will never get a game which is to bad because Torres could be on the national team if he played for say Mallorca or Getafe, again backing up Sergio Ramos. He definately outshines Torrejon and Baragan who are in his generation of defenders.

I've been a way for a bit but I need to throw in a quick two cents. If we can land Alonso for Heinze, we should do it, no question. Alonso is solid defensively and a great distributer - an exact match for what Madrid curently lacks at midfield, and an acceptable patch for when Diarra takes off for the African cup. And sure, I'll regret it when Gago becomes a star for another team (and thanks for the nod, Corey) but pass up a swap like Heinze for Alonso? no way.

p.s I still think we should continue to start Marcelo, and keep Torres as a back up. As far as a center back options are concerned, I think everyone in Madrid - and elsewhere - is expecting the arrival of Garay next season.

Got rid of the spam for you all. Now, Ryan, Torres is greatly perferred to Heinze at left back, but Marcelo is progressing nicely, and I would only want Torres in against a more attacking opponent. Heinze has not played well for us yet, and I was never impressed with him at Man U. So if he was sold I would not shed a tear, as long as another defender was brought in.

Gonzalo- I would still take Alonso over Heinze, it would throw Gago's spot in the team in to doubt, but I dont see him as making a break into the team any time soon. So maybe he is expendable, but as reader John says, the second he moves to another team, he will blossom. We will see.

Elisa- Believe it, it wasnt associate with the funny stuff day, its a legit rumor, but even legit rumor is a misnomer. We all know Ronaldo, Robben, Cesc and Kaka were Calderon's prime targets, and he wont rest till he gets them, or atleast half the lot.

Torres showed he can play LB very well last season, although I agree that Heinze is very versatile and a solid player in all positions, which is why we should keep him.

I wouldn't swap Alonso for Heinze much as I like him as a player and agree with Corey that we should have signed him 3 years ago when he left for the 'pool. I think we need Heinze at left back (Marcelo still does not inspire me with confidence fully, although the kid's been getting better) and Heinze can also play in the centre of defence (or the center of defense, take your pick ;) when needed.

Daniel Parejo is actually 18 which is why he has a pro contract already, which shows the credability of the articles recently. He is a Madridista and his chance will come very soon so I don't exoect he will go anywhere. In the end it is his choice wether he wants to leave, but having Di Stefano and the club behind him, I have a feeling he will want to stay and achieve something here.

About Xabi Alonso, I would love him here. He is a classy player and best of all Spanish. However, should we negotiate with Liverpool over Hienze, it could seriously affect our relationship with Man United which has generally been very good in the past. There was talk of legal action and all sorts in the summer because Heinze wanted a move to Liverpool, and it'd seem as if we are just a stop gap between that deal actually happening. I mean, we do want Ronaldo in the future right? ;p

no thanks, we in Madrid dont trade midget for midget.

And Ramon's ode to Capello is typical of previous GM's that handled him. He is a gruff and dour man, not much for playing style, but he does win. But I doubt even he can turn around the massive pile of shit that is the English national team. Thats fine with me though, not that I dont wish Capello well, but I am not a fan of the English game.

I loved Ramon's little "Ode to Cappello". I think Roma fans have as much reason to hate the man as anyone, but last time I checked Don Fabio did win the title last year. That's worth a little, at least, right?

I'll trade you Pizarro for Saviola. Done and done.
