One Year Anniversary
By: Corey | August 8th, 2008
Thats Me In The Real Jersey Obviously, 2 Years Ago Very Hungover at a Picnic Outside My Dorm
Today, 08/08/08 go figure, is the one year anniversary of this blog. Its also the start of the Olympics in “foggy” China, so put your masks on everyone! Here is my first post if you want to see how far it has all come. One year of blogging here at the Offside has been great, there has been some lean times which I aplogize for, but looking back on my posts, I have done 264 posts in 365 days, and have over 109 pages of comments, with 15 comments per page, which means 1635 comments in one year. Thats an average of 6 comments a post, which I think is pretty good given I put up some filler once and awhile. So those are my stats, because this is sport and thats the only numbers I could get for you. Ohh, a modest brag, but the first month I had 2,000 some page views, and last month I had 13,000. A steady improvement.
But, those stats are meaningless because the only reason I do this is for the readers. I grew up with very little Real Madrid coverage on the internet in English, so when I got the chance to do this I jumped at it. But the biggest thing for me is I came to this site about 2 months after it was concieved, and was a reader and commentor for awhile just like all of you out there. So when I write, I keep you in mind, because if I post something and dont get a good debate going or even a few yay or nay comments, I consider it a failure. I do this for you guys and gals to read, and I want to thank all of you for doing just that. I am very humbled by the fact that I get to write about my favorite team and people actually read it! So again, thank you to everyone, its been a great year and here is to another! (Sorry for the really bad, 2 year old pictures of me, I am at work and its all I coud find on a flashdrive of mine)
HALA MADRID!

Oh yeah, Real beat Santa Fe 2-1, here is the match recap http://www.realmadrid.com/cs/Satellite/en/1202740581142/noticia/Cronica/Van_der_Vaart_s_scores_in_debut.htm. I am off to Long Island (I know, eww) for the weekend with my room mates to hang out at the beach with an old friend of ours. Have a good one.

Happy Birthday!
It’s hard to believe you’ve only been doing this for a year. The amount of output is impressive (hope your work isn’t suffering!
). My own blog has been up for just under two years, but I did run a Real website for 10 years between ‘95 and ‘05, so I guess I’m a bit of a veteran by comparison.Wow, 13,000 page views per month - I’m really impressed - I have just looked at my last month’s figures and it’s around the 2,500 mark, so there’s clearly room for improvement. What this shows is that there are people out there who are interested in Real Madrid but cannot read the tons of Spanish content available so we just have to get the word out there.

I agree Gonz, I think its important that you and I really do get the word out there that we can provide a platform for those who cant read Spanish to get their Real news. Two years is impressive, and being a veteran like yourself I always look to your blog for inspiration and direction.

I’ve been reading your post from day 1 Corey, and will keep on doing it as long as I have free-time at work and the boss isn’t looking. Thanks a ton, and keep it up! Hala Madrid!

Thank you Ryan and TexanSpaniard.
John, I know you have been there since day 1 and I would like to thank you very much, I look forward to reading what you have to say more often then anyone else. Also, care to leave me your email address, I would like to offer you a position here.

Congrats dude. My humble blog has been up for a year too I guess, but the begining was complicated though. I was using a crappy platform (Joomla) and didn’t have time to REALLY write meaningful content. Anyway, what I want you to do is just to keep up. Blogging is not easy, especially blogging about a team like Real Madrid. Sometimes when the team loses, I just hate myself let alone writing about the loss.

Congratulations Corey, I’ve been reading your entries for the last couple of months, and I have te tell you, I think you should be proud of the work you make, balancing work, school, etc.
We’re here support you, and enjoy friendly discussions, and most importantly, to support the greatest team ever!!!!
Take care, have a great weekend, and once again, Muchas Felicidades!!!!
PS: I went to the Emirates Cup this last sunday, is there a way to post the pictures on the website, or send them to you so you can post them???

Corey, you blow at this blogging crap! I never read your posts…
But seriously, congrats sir! You know we all love reading your insights and really appreciate all that you do to keep us current on whatever is happening at the club, be it the youth team, transfers, community events, etc… I just enjoy commenting, communicating with other Real fans, and hearing the latest Madrid news (through a bullshit filter like yourself. You go on goal.com so I don’t have to anymore, thanks.) Thanks for keeping posts entertaining as well, I enjoy the tidbits of humor you sneak in there, especially concerning CRon’s fascination with hair gel and prostitutes.
Keep up the good work, hopefully we’ll have a Champions League title at the end of this campaign to celebrate.

hey, was just wondering, the italian papers are all saying baptista to roma is a done deal…
http://ilromanista.it/?section=edicola
http://www.sportmediaset.it/mercato/articoli/14466/Roma+Real%20Madrid+Julio%20Baptista
http://calciomercato.it/dettaglioNewsCategoria.asp?hdnIdCategoria=2&hdnId=20657&hdnCommenti=1I was just wondering if the same thing is being reported over in spain? Ive heard this before being a roma supporter and all, mutu being the most recent dissapointment, but since our clubs have recently had such a good relationship recently regarding transfers (cicinho, cassano) im hoping this one comes through. By the way what do you guys think of la bestia?? I mean i know he probably didnt live up to his status at seville, but was it due to the fact that he wasnt given a fair shake, he didnt fit the system, or he didnt work hard?? Just curious and thanks

Happy B-day or Happy Anni Corey. Enjoy your time off and you’ve done a great job. It is a tough job blogging about the greatest team in the world and there a lot of high expectations. But you can handle it. Take care.
