Elisa- Thanks for the kind words. I would like it if we stopped populating La Liga teams and populated our own team with the Castilla players.

Ryan- I fully agree with the idea that promoting youth team players just for the sake of having them in the team is useless. And I also agree that loaning out players is a good way for them to grow. Roberto Soldado is a perfect example of this, as he spent a year training with the full squad, played a few games and scored a few goals, then went to Osasuna and did very well. But he comes back and does not get a look in. The players that are loaned out are unfortunately never given a chance because we buy players to replace the loanee's and when they come back there is no space.

Granero and De La Red could easily start for us. Baptista has been excellent this year, but I get the feeling De La Red would have gotten the chance to impress next to Diarra first, as Gago has not. Granero would have been a good alternative to Sneijder/Guti on the right/playmaker role. Soldado should get more playing time, while Balboa certainly is good enough, and he should be given a shot on the right or left as a sub more often in league games. Torres is a great player, and if it wasnt for Sergio Ramos' excellence he would surely start every game, but I assume unless we buy someone to replace Cannavaro, Sergio may revert back to the center next year. Adrian is on loan at Celta and hopefully he is doing well but I havent checked, while every time I saw Bueno play I liked what I saw, but he is a year or two away from a full promotion. Juan Mata and Jurado and Javi Garcia all thought they were ready for the first team, and they probably were, but they were denied a chance by a stubborn coach and a host of players we have bought over the past 3 years. I would like to see Jurado, Javi Garcia and Mata with us still, they all would make a big impact in our squad.

As for Dani Parejo, I have heard he is good, but David Moreno is a muh better prospect, I am going to continue my series on the youth team tomorrow and I will put a video of him up for you all to see.

Just to add, I think these days people are too eager for players to be playing first team football at younger and younger ages. Granero is what, 21? If he made his first full team Real Madrid debut at 24 then he is still relatively young, but with a whole lot of experience. Not all players are that great at 19/19, they need to mature or some simply blossom later on. Ramos and the others I mentioned are special cases of extreme talent.

I am all for promoting youth players, but not just for the sake of having more of them in the squad. We are Real Madrid and they need to be good enough, which I am sad to say some of them arent. Granero and De La Red could have big futures here, Soldado too if he got a chance, but as for Balboa and Bueno for example, I don't think they are good enough to push anyone else out of the current team. Dani Parejo isn another who could have a great future, with Stefano telling him that he is the best we have produced in a while. With players like Mata and Jurado, we sold them and what have they done at big clubs like Atletico and Valencia? Not alot. When you have a player like Granero who has the talent, the best we can do is loan them out for a couple of season to see if they grow as players, because we don't have the time to play them at Madrid because of the expectations, we aren't a mid table side where they can grow. Unless they show the play of the likes of Rooney, Messi & Cesc at their ages then can we take the chance in a few games that could ultimately cost us while they adjust? Granero is really coming into his own at Getafe, De La Red too so next season or the one after they will be coming of age and really performing if they keep it up, the perfect time to intergrate them into the squad. As far as brining players up who are 18/19 just to give them the chance to grow and prove themsaelves, I don't believe in it. Loaning them out is the best way imo.

Alot of our quality canteranos got Castilla to the 2nd division 2 years ago and several "earned" the right to be loaned out a year. We still had a quality squad in 2nd division playing last year. Unfortunately, Castilla got relegated, there was no way that we could keep our canteranos happy, so many sold or loaned. I love the fact that our academy populates the rest of the La Liga teams, but I really would like to see them given a chance. Nice piece Corey.
