Parejo Returns from QPR

By: Corey | December 17th, 2008

Dani Parejo has returned from his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers to re-join the first team squad. He is touted as a “winter reinforcement” by the official website, and he will compete with Sneijder, Guti and Van de Vaart for a spot in the team. He played a total of 18 games for Rangers in the first half of the season, putting in impressive enough displays in order to earn a recall. He has already arrived in Madrid and should begin training with the first team shortly in order to be available for selection by Juande Ramos.

The question I pose to you is, was this a good move for Real Madird as well as for Dani Parejo? At 19 he cant be expected to make much of an impact yet on Real’s first team, or can he? You decide!

Okay, here’s the rest of the answer to Question #1: All of the players listed are foreign and had played for other clubs before being bought by Barcelona. They were regular starters in Barcelona’s 05/06 and 06/07 campaigns, and they were brought in to end Barcelona’s Liga title drought (they hadn’t won since 1999). These players were frequently started in favor of Barca’s youth products (Xavi included). So Barcelona couldn’t (or wasn’t willing to try to) win titles with their cantera players at the time, so they bought a bunch of foreign mercenaries. Such tactics are hardly unusual for big clubs like Madrid and Barcelona. Thanks for playing!

And Cesar – I love the fact that you brought up Bilbao. When reading I.H.M.’s comments, I kept thinking that if it were coming from an Athletic fan, I might just take that shit. But from a Barca fan? Nope.

braapaap – Barcelona fans have often visited this forum and left their comments (Ramzi and Isaiah come to mind)and have been treated very respectfully. We only lash out when provoked by hypocrites.

As someone who also hates Madrid but does not feel like making an idiot of himself, I’m curious to know what your lot thinks of all the rather..creative stories that have been popping up in the media recently. Apparently Madrid has already signed C. Ronaldo, Kun and Benzema, and of course the media would never make this up…

Also congrats to Parejo for showing that Madrid can in fact produce players uglier than Barcelona raised ones.

Parejo is pretty ugly, but his hair is just like Puyol’s, they have similar cave man looks to them.

As for the rumors, its simply easiest to put big names next to Real Madrid recently because our dumb ass president and sporting director love the attention the club gets, and the notoriety from being linked with high profile players. Little do they know its 1. very annoying and 2. disprespectful to clubs all over the world. But I think other European teams have the same problems from time to time, maybe on a smaller scale so they dont get to angered with Real, except Man U. Because Whiskey Nose knows (haha nice) that is he sells Ronaldo, then the team could fall apart, and all the money he gets from the Ronaldo sale will probably go to settling the enormous debts the club has. I dont blame him for not wanting to sell.

The thing is, when Real is in “crisis” or simply is not playing well and winning they will be linked to players by all the papers that envision transfers as the best way to solve the situation. But if the club is playing well and winning, our before mentioned idiot management well begin linking us to those same players themselves because they think “If we get some more big names in here it can only get better right?” You cant get away from it unfortunately.

But in Benzema’s case, I really do think a deal is being negotiated, even though not much is being said in the press compared to the Ronaldo nonsense. Jean Michel Auluas knows Benzema will leave if Lyon dont progress in Europe this year, so he is working on a deal and a price, which I put at around 60 million Euros.

John, there you go, you completely understood my point, let’s just wait for I.H.M’s “reply”, lol

Nolan, Real Madrid, wether it is for transfers rumors (true or false), controversy, coaching changes, dumb management, etc, they are the biggest headline makers in world football, and almost every agent likes to link their players to our club as a bargaining chip in any negotiation, be it with us or anothe team, so as I told I Hate Madrid, better check your sources, to see how reliable they are. I for one only rely on As and Marca, because of their direct links to the club, but I never rely on them 100%, because they also throw names in the air, specially during the summer and in the winter transfer period, that’s how they make their money

Take care everybody, Nolan, braapaap you’re always welcome here

I like coming to this space a lot coz it’s a place where football fans can have real mature discussions about football and Real Madrid. One of the great things about this site also, is that it has Barca fans who comment and make the discussion even better with their insights (as mentioned, like Ramzi and Isaiah come to mind).

I don’t really get that much any where else (I live in Singapore, mostly EPL fans, the kind who don’t have an idea or interest of what happends outside). Then suddenly this Cule shows up with the reasoning of an 8 year old but the mouth of a teenager. Whatta pisser.

In any case, to move on… yes… I agree Parejo is pretty fricking ugly. hahah. I wouldn’t mind if he played like another fricking ugly player though: Ribery.

    Re: Nolan’s question…
    1. Speaking generally, I think a lot of players and agents like to drum up to the press about some interest of Madrid towards them to raise their values and salaries (Did you know that Madrid are interested me? So you better pay me and treat me right!). I know that this is partly due to…

2.) Madrid are a big club and therefore have a massive scouting network. So its normal that they’re all over viewing many players for possible recruitment. So even if you’re not really that geat a player, Madrid might still scout you and result in you being a player being mentioned in item #1.

3.) Also because Madrid are sucha big club, they probably also have emmissaries all over the world exploring negotiating options with all sorts of players and agents. And because we are known to pay big money if we like someone, we get back to item #1.

4.) I would love to have Benzema, Aguero and even CRon on my team. I have no idea as the rumors are true. Perhaps this is a case of item #3 since Calderon has made such an ass of himself last summer. With Higuain and Huntelaar + Raul and RVN next year, I’m not so sue we need strikers. Aguero is really unlikely though given he’s an Athletico MAdrid player. Benzema, maybe.

5.) I’m so sick of the CRon rumors. Yes we need a Right Winger and he’s one…. but this thing is just getting really pathetic. If Calderon is behind this: I’d like to kick his ass for it. I’ll only regret that if he manages to pull it off…. :)

you’re not the only one that wants to kick ramon’s ass trust me
anyways with parejo returning and diarra possibly coming our midfield will be stacked because we’ll have sneijder , guti , gago , L.diarra , VDV , garcia , parejo , drenthe , robben , GOD DAMN!!! who sits now what you guys’s prefect midfield be

i’d go with sneijder diarra gago robben in away games
and sneijder guti gago robben in home games

    what do you guys think

maybe ugliness is proportional to football talent. lets see. tevez, rvn , ronaldinho, ribery, et al. so if parejo conforms to the same rule, we got a super one on our hands. we all know he is talented. and i think that ramos is the best coach for him. and our cantera tambien.

    here is my kick-out-of-club list:
Ramon Calderon , Predrag Mijatovic, Marcelo, Javier Saviola, Gabriel Heinze, Christoph Metzelder, Rafael van der Vaart(if he doesn’t haul his ass back in line),Royston Drenthe.and reduced playing time for Raul and Guti.

that should clear out enough space. i think we should have snapped up chivu instead of going for heinzebut whats done is done.and we still don’t have a right winger.
well the future is bright, its white.

El Nino won’t haunt us…. he’s only scored ONCE against Real Madrid. And the match ended in a draw after El Pipita equalized (if I remember correctly).

Liverpool’s going to be really tough though (extra tough for me coz my girlfirend’s a Liverpoool fan :) )… but heck, if we’re going to achieve something in the Champions League this year, we might as well start with beating one of the best.

We have more than 2 months to recover our injured, make our winter signings, regain our form and get out tactics right. In the mean time, here’s to hoping everyone writes us off so they can set themselves up for the shock of their life if we manage to beat Liverpool.

Beating them might just give us true self-belief that we need to achieve big things this season despite the horrible start.
