Raul Albiol presentation…, is he happy to be here????
By: Cesar | July 2nd, 2009
Raul Albiol was presented as a Real Madrid player earlier this afternoon.
It was the same set up that was used for Kaka’s presentation, and to tell you the truth, I was genuinely surprised to see how many people were present for his presentation, him not being a galactico at all (As.com reports around 8000). Maybe because he’s the first spanish player on Florentino’s second term, who knows.
Florentino introduced Albiol as one of the top spanish defenders, member of the Spanish team that won the Euro 2008, and survivor of a personal tragedy that might have prevented him from playing football ever again.
Then it was Albiol’s turn to thank the club for trusting him, and to say how “happy” (more on that later) he is to be part of the club.
That was followed by the mandatory picture with Florentino and Di Estefano, and the showing of the jersey with his new number, 18. He walked the catwalk as Kaka did, approaching the fans and saluting them, but when they started chanting “kiss the shield, kiss the shield” he just couldn’t do it, and I totally understand him, he’s a valenciano through and through, so I don’t have a problem with that. Let’s wait and see for the big deal (if any) that As and Marca make out of his refusal to kiss the shield.
Now, about the “happy” part; I don’t believe he’s truly happy to be with Madrid, I think he wanted to stay at Valencia, and if that’s the case, I only ask of him to be professional and defend the club colors, even if he doesn’t believe in them.
That’s the Albiol presentation, now until Monday for CR96….
Raul Albiol, welcome to Real Madrid, hopefully you’ll help us win many trophies. HALA MADRID!!!!

Well said john… valencia should have kept him, it’s too bad that we have such bad directors. VCF supporters will always love Albiol, unlike Mijatovic. Albiol is not a merengue for sure, let’s see if he becomes one someday.
We’re lucky you are looking after society Andres, keep insulting to do so

Andres just follow my orders:
keep insulting
Your lord is talking to you Andres!
Now, for the people who own a frontal lobe: What do you think about Madrid’s midfield for next season? no offence intended seriously

I bet if you two (mku and Andres) met up for beers you’d end up laughing your asses off and having a good time. Just a guess.
But to answer your question, mku, we’ve all been discussing it and I think a lot of us are guessing that it’ll either be:
a double pivot (w/ 2 of Lass, Gago, Diarra; Alonso if he comes) with Ronaldo on the right, and Kaka playing a more free role on the left, with Higuain and Benzema up front or
a 4-2-3-1. Same pool as the the double pivot + Sneijder for the DM’s and a trident of Higuain/Ronaldo – Kaka – Ronaldo/Robben supporting Benzema.
And no, Raul’s not in either of those. Hopefully he’ll be leading from the bench, and playing a limited role on the pitch. I said it.

Mku what are you , a freaking broken tape ? With your corny ass comments , whoever told you you were funny doesn’t like you very much lol
Anyways our midfield is fine all we’re missing is alonso or a player of his caliber then we’d be set to whoop your ass next season !Posted from

That link has been getting plenty of laughs over at the Barca site but it is also downright disturbing.
You guys GOTTA appreciate that.

So mku, you were never really a Barca fan. You are an Iniesta, Eto’o, and Valencia fan. Nice to know.

Just curious, what is the general consensus among Madrid fans about the usefulness of Raul in the upcoming season?
Is he still an undroppable? Or do you feel that the time has come where he adds more value from the bench than on the field?Posted from

Shingai: I think I speak for many Madridistas when I say that the time has come for Raul to take his place on the bench.
That said, the opinion is not based the notion that we think he’s useless or no good, just that he has come to a point in his career where he has to take on a more supporting role instead of the lead role which we are all looking forward to see Kaka and CR96 play (among others.. there’s also Higuain, Benzema, etc.).
Raul will still be an important member for the squad, to add spark late in games or to fill in during injuries and suspensions to guys like Kaka, CR96, Higuain, Benzema & Robben. He has also over the last few years manifested very clearly how he wants to win the Copa Del Rey… I would certianly like to see him lead the line in this particular front and would love to see RVN kept in the squad to fill in this role as well.

This is interesting, very interesting. All 4 players Madid have signed so far have signed SIX year contracts. Thats not so smart, this way you can not guarantee they give 100 % effort.
One more thing. RM signed abiol, who replaces cannavaro. Why aren’t they signing defenders and defensive midfielders? They should be replacing gago and lass, replacing heinze and buying 2 replacements for the centre back role. After that they should get midfielders. Instead they sign forwards and forwards and forwards, does this look like a club that knows what its doing? Not to me.
Your idiot president doesn’t care about defense because it is “boring”. What an imbecil.

I Hate Madrid we also got garay who will be returning to us from santander next season so that’s plenty of defenders and why in the hell would we replace Lass ? Are you serious ? Gago and heinze yes but you gotta be out of your mind to think that we’d replace a man who was one of the best players in the squad last season
And we also have mahamadou diarra so we don’t need to buy a DM , the only type of midfielder we need is a creative CM and that’s why we’re after alonso
We’re also trying to buy a left back in arbeloa
O and kaka and ronaldo are not forwards btw sure they can play the support striker role but still they’re midfieldersPosted from

A creative midfielder like Alonso?
Alonso is a Xavi wannabe. Even his name says so. However, he’s clumsy. With Spain, he was supposed to to Senna’s job. However, he wanted to mimic his teammate xavi and go higher and higher, try his chances with long shots (because sometimes he feels inspirational and wants to be like Gerard), but couldn’t do it. Senna knowns how it’s done and leave it to Xavi. Xabi tries to be like Xavi, but he’s not. Tsss…. If that man is you future creative Cm,you’ll have a hard time with him. But, since you’ll have Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, the it might do the tricks.

Andres, ronaldo is not a midfielder, a winger is a forward. So you are right about kaka, he is not a forward. However, he is not gonna help improve your defense either.
Alonso is more of a DM than a creative midfielder.
As for Lass, well, I think he sucks, and I can prove it. He only did well against weak teams in La liga. Whenever he faced quality teams, he sucked. Lets see… Against liverpool in the first leg, he was beaten in the air for the Liverpool goal. In the second leg, he gave the ball away and it led to the first goal. Against Barcelona (and you absolutely MUST agree with me on this one, there is no denying it), he sucked. He was supposed to keep Xavi quiet. How did that work out? Not too good, considering Xavi had FOUR assists. And that moment where Xavi stole the ball from diarra and assisted messi for the 3rd goal, ALL in one touch, was embarassing for Diarra. So basically, he only performs well against weak teams. Think about it, there is a reason why he was not a starter at Portsmouth. I would get rid of him, get rid of gago, and keep Mahmoudo diarra. M.Diarra can’t do the job alone (considering he is injury prone), you need at least 1 more.
Lass sucks.

@ IHM:
Lass wasn’t a starter at Portsmouth? research that one again, please. Mamadou is injury prone? what is that based on; one long term injury? shucks, you sound like a football expert! let’s take your word for it!
How can you expect a defensive midfielder to shine when his midfield is totally outnumbered, and the team leaks in 5+ goals? those performances were inept TEAM performances. sure, he could’ve played better, but he is our best defensive mid, and will be a mainstaat real for years to come.

I Hate Madrid like sambit just said the reason why lass couldn’t shine against those top quality sides is because he was playing alongside gago who as we all know is caca therefore he was out numbered
And M.diarra is not injury pronePosted from

jnice: I’m a FCB fan for sure. I’ve been one from the time I started to play the beautiful game. 2 decades or more, can you say that? Good times and bad times… unlike most gringos on these foreign blogs. I still support my hometown team and like to see my beloved players play, no matter to what team they go. That is called LOVE FOR FOOTBALL.
I can’t imagine how you got to such a wrong conclusion, and I see you like to talk about me… do you have a crush on mku?

on the xabi alonso subject…
I think lass is one of the key players in your team so… are you going to play with 2 defensive midfielders (lass-xabi)? That way kaka can play as 10 and be more “defence free”. I really want to see what pellegrini will do… I also think pellegrini will not play with 2 def mids, although madrid has always been able to change anyone’s mind
I guess this is what ignorant madrikitas want to happen:
——-iker———
ramos-albiol-pepe-xxx xxx marcelo or other
—–xabi-lass——
——-kaka———
xxx–benzema—cr9 xxxx pipita, robben or otherremeber kaka is not Zidane
and FCB has shown the world that playing with one def mid and two offensive mids, with both of them taking the organising responsabilities you can drive the rival nuts.
I really hope you play with 2 def mids and FCB with only 1, so this is a war between catenaccio and art football… but pellegrini is a smart coach I think.
THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE GREAT FOR ALL FOOTBALL FANS!
