I go to a bar (long lunch break from work, come back a bit beery breathed) and I don't have roving internet technology. However, I always check the liveblog when I get back to work (my performance seriously plummets on CL weekdays) and enjoy reading the notes and especially Steve's analysis. I'll try to catch y'all before you sign off tomorrow, to hear your two bits, to toss in mine, and to toast Madrid's victory. HALA MADRID!!

Everyone has been posting really well lately and I would like to thank all the commentors, great input and its why I write stuff for this site. But this game against Roma is big, so we need to all cheer the team on right?

I think the lack of comments during the past couple liveblogs are why we lost, the more concentration of madridismo the stronger it is. I hope everyone can join us tomorrow to watch the game and leave comments during the match on the liveblog. Give Steve some backup, and cheer your team on with fellow Madridistas against Roma here tomorrow, 2:30 eastern time. Hala Madrid!

didn't catch the match, was busy all weekend long... helping a friend move on Sat, then another friend's birthday at night. Hence, no liveblog. Looks like it was chippy but a good comeback effort by Real. definitely making time for the CL match on Wed!

Man was that a heated match or what. Recre was out for blood from the beginning. It was good to see our guys stand up tough. I don't think Real is seen as a particularly strong team usually. Talented, maybe, but not tough. I think Recre thought they could push Real around and that they'd start making stupid mistakes again, but Drenthe, Diarra, Sergio can hold their own, and Canna and Heinze are two crafty old vets. These guys made me proud, even though Robben took a lot of unjust punishment and Sergio lost his head, I think it was good game and a lot of people learned a lesson about Real. Raul's goal, that's what being tough is all about. Hala Madrid!!

Corey-
Happy late 21st, I hope that you don't remember a thing. Nice win for the Whites as robinho's return sparked a goal-scoring frenzy. As Phil Ball touched on in his article today, he is our "strategy-breaker". No matter how a team tries to shut us down, the little Brazilian always has a creative answer. Can't wait for him to run through the Roma D this week.

I'm still disappointed in our back line. If Iker is the keeper we all think he is, how the hell have we been giving up 2-3 goals per game? Yes, our back line has been continuously injured throughout the year, but I've seen teams like Almeria play much smarter with less. You have to wonder if Schuster is just telling these guys to attack and forget about defending. It was good to see us stiffen up and hold them for the rest of the game after the first goal, but giving up a silly free kick opportunity at the end??? We will be severely punished for such foolishness by better sides. I think with our improving health, we should be able to push Heinze back to the bench and play our bigger, smarter stoppers.

I'm usually a big Ramos fan, but his temper got the better of him today...no worries Sergio, the referees have been horribly inconsistent this year and I'm surprised we haven't seen Bernadine shit himself sideways about some of the decisions. Very surprisingly, he's taken the high road so far, and I commend him for that. I'd just hate to see us get taken out of the CL by a ref.

Thanks for noting the solid performance by Gago and Diarra. I was impressed by Gago. I really think he's just got to develop a little more and he will be a special player for us. Diarra is still a little inconsistent with his passing, but when paired with Gago, he has an easy touch to his partner and can focus on defending. I like these two playing together as you know, and the true test will be midweek versus a Roma side that loves to control the ball in midfield. I don't think it's necessarily their responsiblity to pick up Tutti Fruitti, but to slow down the midfield supporters.

Let's beat Roma!

Man of the Match: Robinho, his presence alone scares the defense into submission.

Goat of the Match: The ref again. These guys have to be consistent, and they haven't been.

Does this mean Robben's injured again? If so, he lasted just long enough to spell Robinho. I missed this match, but it looked like a good fight from the review. I liked the formation Schuster used, and wonder if we'll see something similar against Roma. Ramos is going to be out of the next two matches now, and I hope he takes that time to touch up on his wing-backing. I partially attribute his shaky form of late to the fact he's been on defensive detail pretty much since the fifth game of the season. With Pepe back and Torres in form, that gives Ramos a little more slack to push (or perhaps gallup is a better word) forward, and he isn't the threat in that role he's been in the past. I'm sure, however, in time he'll hit his groove again.
