Real Madrid Weekly Podcast

podcast

Here is the weekly podcast that I missed out on two weeks in a row because of schedule conflicts. Itunes link is here. Im back in it this week and I try my hand at hosting, which went well, but I do not have the smooth voice of a radio personality so I may never become a king of podcasts like Kevin is. Let me know what you think of the topics we discussed in the comments. And enjoy the international games this weekend/week!

Here is a list of the podcast contributors individual sites:

Kevin at the Own Goal Network

Mark at Madridista Mac

Adam, voted one of the internets best bloggers, at Real Madrid Talk

If you want to be on the show as a guest (four people makes it a pretty busy and lengthy recording as it is), email me at cnfiske@gmail.com or leave a comment with your email so we can work a schedule. HALA MADRID!

PS HAPPY 100TH CAP IKER!

    Good post Labomba
About xabi though I don’t think well ever see him play for us the way he plays for la roja because as you pointed out , yesterday he had busquets stay back and clean up which gives him freedom , we have no one that will do that expect M.diarra who pellegrini doesn’t seem to like , lass never stays back so xabi has to worry about the dfensive duties which cramps his style ,that’s why I don’t like Lass

In the picture, Iker and Gerard wait to be introduced in to the game. Who is the third player? I know that the game they were entering was against Sweeden in 2000, but I have no idea who that darker skinned gentlemen is. My best guess would be Donato but he only played with Spain until 96. Anyone have a clue?

Is it just me, or would you guys rather leave CR out of the squad if he was fit for the Racing game. Racing actually play a physical game, and we should not risk him, especially since i think the squad would manage this game without him. Rest him till the Clasico, or the champions league game to insure our progress.

Hey everyone saw how good Xabi can play at his true position, Xabi would be giving performances like that week in week out if that d***head Lass (Yes, he may be the best in winning balls but still) knew his position in the team and stayed behind Xabi and let Xabi play his natural game i.e passing and link-up play.

And Bassam, I would like to see CR for a few minutes at the end, a little match time would really benefit.

Glad you agree with my badly worded post, (don’t tell anyone I’m an English teacher!)
Lass played deeper last season, and I can only assume he’s playing further upfield under Pellegrini’s instruction, so we’ll put it on the Pellegrini weirdo decision list which is now getting fairly long.
Yes I forgot two players on my Madridista watch list
Kaká who had a very average game against England B who should have been playing their socks off to get into the first team but didn’t have the necessary quality
and Pepe who played holding midfielder again which is not his postion at all in my opinion and apart from nearly scoring an own goal was again average so my conclusion from my previous post remains the same
Interesting the press here are saying that the lull in the second half of the Spain game (apart from the obvious pushing forward and pressing from Argentina)is that Argentina were hacking chunks out of the little magos and they were preserving their bones on a so called ‘friendly’ match

Another thing – the Catholic church says there are two routes to Sainthood, performing heroic acts or matyrdom, well the heroics are performed on a weekly basis by our own saint and you’d have to be a matyr to put up with the defence he’s been given!

Pepe put a man of the match perfomance against Bosnia. He was all over the mildfield and he vanished Misimovic, who is a world class playmaker.

I am so very bored with this international break. Its good timing though, as its my last week of classes before my Thanksgiving break. I guess I will start working on a Santander preview shortly, as there has been little for me to post lately.

In recent news Maldini hailed Sergio Ramos and says he may become his heir.

    I’m not holding my breath.

He has the potential, but last season he was very average. This season is the same though he has the excuse that he didn’t train the whole summer and we know that stamina is a big part of Ramos’ game.

To be a decent defender? Yes. To be Maldini’s heir? Hell no.

This isn’t an attack on Sergio Ramos. He’s probably one of the best right backs at the moment, right after Maicon and Sagna. If, of course, you don’t count Zanetti as an RB also.

It seems like the general quality of defenders has become less than it was before. Even in Italy, there are very few young defenders out there. It’s no wonder that Lippi is still using a 36 year old Cannavaro and Leonardo using 33 year old Nesta (even though they’re very good)

I think Ramos is a great defender. I think when we compare Ramos to other defenders, we have to keep in mind which team he’s playing in. This is Real Madrid…the philosophy is to always attack. In the interview, Maldini says that Cannavaro told him how difficult it was to defend in Madrid. Add to that, he’s pretty much covering the right side of the field by himself and I think we can appreciate him more. Also, he’s still only 23.

Another interesting note, in a poll in Marca, above 80% agreed he would be better playing as a central defender. Maldini told him he should play as a center and Ramos even said that he’s better as a central defender. The game he played at Villareal where he played as a central defender, he was excellent.

Or against geta , well everyone knew ramos is a better CB than right back I’m thinking that’s why we wanted maicon so much so we could move sergio to the middle alongside albiol or pepe

Zizou, no I don’t like him one bit even he is awesome in winning back balls, he ruins the game of my beloved Xabi Alonso. It is because of Lass people say that Xabi is not performing well even though he is!

As for Sergio, I consider him the best in the world despite his last season being poor and him having a very hot head (close to beating Hierro’s record). He is the most complete full back—look at his crossing, the rate at which he tracks back (after being alone on the right wing), his tackling, his first touch, his dribbling plus he is versatile you can also play him as a holding midfielder, right winger, central defender. The last season, he had to look after the right wing all by himself, neither of Maicon or Sagna can do that and give a performance close to what Sergio gives, I can go on and on about how good a player Sergio Ramos is!

And Andres, I would definitely love to see Sergio in the center!

No point in playing Ramos in the centre now, we got Albiol and Garay this summer, quality players.

yes! Deepak i think Alonso has been 1 of our best players, his defending has been brilliant, he’s 1 of the only players that seems to have any postional sense when dealing with crosses, i really like him to, but Lass is just as awesome, at least he is always trying and can’t fault him for his work rate and you just can’t hate someone who puts that much effort in lolz
