Robinho is D-U-N, done!

By: Steve | August 22nd, 2008

Hala Madrid! Well, Madridistas, it looks like Robinho is definitely on the way out. The Brazilian has finally spoken out publicly, declaring his love for all things Roman (pun intended). I can hardly see a way that we keep him now, though his lack of form through the preseason has made his possible departure all the more bearable.

Presidente Calderon has put a £32m (40m euros) price tag on Robinho’s head at which he’d allow the Chelskis to get the winger, and word on the street is that Blues head honcho Peter Kenyon is in Madrid as I type to iron out the transfer. Will Calderon get back the 36m euros he spent on Robben a year ago? Of course, you knew this was going to happen once I got my Robinho jersey… damn it! Sorry, my bad.

In other news, I’m going to Spain on holidays next week, starting in Sevilla on Sunday… so I obviously won’t be liveblogging the second leg of the Supercopa. Instead, I’ll be in some random tapas bar, watching the match and trying not to get killed. Wish me luck!

Bullshit I say, but it means are midfield is less crowded and some one like Drenthe will get more games and we can use VdV and Guti out wide more.

Well, farewell, as old Santiago Bernabeu always said, “if you don’t want to be here, there’s the door”!!!!

When he got to Madrid, I was really excited, but after these years, I’ve grown tired of him never fulfilling his potential, so farewell, good luck in England, hopefully Calderon and Mijatovic sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, so we can bring Huntelaar

I have been a loyal Real Madird Fan for almost 2 years now and Robinho has been one of my favorites for a long time. I think his only weakness is his inconsistancy. Some matches he is completely unstopable, and others you wouldnt even know he was playing. I certainly wish him the best of luck in the premiership.

If he wants to leave let him go. But we should not sell him for next to nothing. Let Chelsea pay for what they want. They got loads of money from the whole Robben transfer last year so we should get our money back. Also i dont think we should buy another midfield player to replace him just buy the striker we need, and next season we should buy back Granero and give Parejo a chance in the team as well.

As a Sevilla and Spurs fan this whole thing is quite amusing to me.

Happy to see Real losing a very valuable player and at the same time Robinho is a joke.

Chelski is a false “big club” so to speak and their followers are all glory hunters… (worse than Real!)

Robinho is going to fail in the prem, its inevidable, he relies alot on his skill and touches..and in the prem its all about pace and speed. Robinho is going to get bullied around. I can almost see it now..

“Robinho out for the season with broken right foot”

He achieved 2 LA LIGA championships with us and gave us countless hours of highlight ‘fantasy futbol skills’ footage. Robinho will be sorely missed as Calderon’s machiavellian scheme of pedestrian boring ‘anti-galactico’ football finally eliminates another one of Florentino Perez’s boys. Ramos better watch his back, he is the last one left!!
Also, I for one don’t buy the MARCA & AS hype about him never achieving his potential. Robinho achieved what he could within the situation that was before him. After his dramatic introduction in CADIZ he was marginalized in the dressing room by the Raul/Spanish faction in their power struggle with Ronaldo’s Brazilian faction. The following year he had to suffer as an ‘attacking flair’ player under the oppresive defensive regime of Capello, a regime that was ultimately saved when Capello finally decided to take Robinho off the bench and start him consistently for the final run of the season and it paid off. Somehow, Robinho contributions were forgotten and Capello’s ugly soccer got the glory. Last year he was our best player until he got injured and didn’t recover fast enough. Again, his contributions were forgotten and ignored. The bottom line is, when Robinho plays regularly Madrid wins, no question. I agree with ‘realrock’ when he said that Robinho has only played well for “half a season under Capello and 1/3rd(actually realrock its 3/4th) under Schuster”. What realrock forgets is that thats the only time he has been allowed to play. Why didn’t Madrid have the faith to start him more regularly? Calderon, no matter what that f*cker says never wanted Robinho to truly succeed because it would be a constant reminder of the legacy of his eternal rival FLORENTINO PEREZ. Like I said earlier, Sergio Ramos, watch your back because your next!! Hala Madrid!!

Real Madrid has just released an Official announcement that they would let Robinho go

i’m a bit sad that he’d go but it’s good that thing is clear now. transfer market is about to close .(just a week left.) lose him now is better than later

&Real sup. will get mad to see Robinho leave so they will sign s1 very very soon, and i think it’d be a very promising one to cover the supporter rage.

for me i’d like to see capel or menez coming.
Villa or silva is great but it’s impossible.
Quaresma is a bit expensive and i rarely see him play so i don’t know much bout him.

    let see what’ll happen

This is a very interesting situation–Calderon is saying that Robinho will not be sold (so he’s holding out for more money), but he will not hold Robinho again his will. So if Robinho really refuses to play for the club this season, he needs to submit a letter requesting that he be released from his contract. As it has been explained to me, if he does that, it means he either has to pay his release clause (120 million Euro) or sue Real Madrid. While he is suing the club, he cannot play and lawsuits can take at least a year and the club will get paid a substantial amount in the end, just not 120 Euros.

So any way you slice it, the club either gets a heck of a lot of money now or a motivated Robinho if he’s unwilling to submit that letter and Chelsea don’t offer enough this season, who is trying to convince teams to pay up to get him out of Madrid while the club looks for a replacement, and a heck of a lot of money later for his transfer. So I think Calderon is actually playing his hand correctly here considering the circumstances.

Well, even though the situation is pretty much the way Louise says it is, i think that Calderon will probably prefer hope Robinho changes his mind or try to sell Robinho for a neat sum this season. The 120 million euros is not going to happen, meaning the only option would be suing the club. Nd that would mean a lot of uncertainty throughout the season, disrupting the side a lot. I certainly would not want that to happen. Besides we would not be able to replace Robinho with a suitable player.
I do agree with Estoverao but also have to point out that Robinho is someone who even though individually is a good player, a match winner, he can be a quite disruptive influence. He’s mainly a dribbler ( i love watching him dribble, will miss that a lot ), not exceptional at either scoring or assisting, but does create a great amount of uncertainty in the minds of the opposition defenders. But still not that much of a team player.
With him gone, we could also focus on getting a right winger or a forward. Hopefully, Drenthe will be able to develop and substitute for Robben when he’s out injured. And Drenthe is a pretty good dribbler too and very quick and strong, though he is yet to prove himself regularly.
What i feel Real will really lose out on is the prestige, if a premier league club like chelsea is able to take one of our top players.

(Maybe i’m really sad and just trying to look at things positively, dunno)

    Anthony, you’re funny.

I’m sorry but I’m a Chelsea supporter who grew up a Chelsea supporter due to the Bridge’s proximity to my grandmother’s place. All Chelsea fans aren’t glory hunters. Many of the new ones are for sure, however, as a Spurs fan whose club may be about to overpay for an attacking midfielder (Arshavin, 27 vs Robinho, 24) how can you possibly shit on this move?

Deco’s been doing “alright” so far and he doesn’t rely on pace and speed. You think Gerrard and Lampard are quick? They’re “decent” midfielders (in club shirts, of course). Simply tossing him aside and saying it’ll never work sounds like a bitter Spurs fan whose best property is about to be sold to ManUre and whose team is sitting on 0 points after 2 matches against powerhouses Sunderland and Middlesborough.

Greg, before Abramovic’s mafia money where was Chelski? No where important. Not to mention the fact that teams like Nottingham Forest and Red Star Belgrade have won more champs league titles that you lot. Stop acting like you are a big club, you have no history!

I never said anything about Spurs being good or being a big club, all I said was that I am a fan and that I am highly amused by this whole situation.

And to answer your question, no, Gerrard and Lampard aren’t quick or fast, but their strong on the ball… Robinho isn’t, he’s smart on and off the ball.

Only time will tell anyways… we’ll see what happens if this move really does materialise.

Anthony, I appreciate the fact that you didn’t take personal offense to what I said and came back with an intelligent argument. Too many times on the site in general people turn to stupid personal attacks. I see your point on Robinho vis-a-vis Lampard and Gerrard.

That said, I wonder why history makes such a big deal when the matches have been played and are done with. Why watch a live football match when you can go back to the year and watch when your club were good and be satisfied? I always feel that if the score line is 3-0 and it’s Chelsea vs. say Liverpool (who have great “history”) that the fans chanting “You’ve got no history” seem silly since, as we speak, your club is having their asses handed to them.
