Some Castilla Info
By: Corey | September 18th, 2008So it seems Castilla players have not been completely forgotten by Bernd Schuster. After 10 or so different Castilla and C team players trained with the first team this past week, the official Champions League squad list has been released, and believe it or not, Felipe Ramos, Adán, Velayos, Mateos, Mosquera y Alberto Bueno have made the list. You may be asking where Chema Anton is? Well he is listed in the 1st team for the CL but he still plays with Castilla. Good news for all of these players, I am a little disappointed not to see Marcos Tebar or Gorka in this list seeing as how Adan AND Felipe Ramos are included. But I guess that points to there exits at seasons end.
Here is a list of all the players on the Castilla team, with their nationality (or community) next to their name:
Madrid : Felipe Ramos, Adán, Tébar, Velayos, Mateos, Bueno, Gorka y Vázquez
Soria : Modrego
Barcelona : Palanca y Zamora
Albacete: Agus
La coruña : Mosquera
Alicante: Chema Antón
Salamanca: Javi Hernández
Pontevedra: Fran Rico
Uruguay: Gary
Ghana: Opare
Alemania: Schorch
Hungría: Szalai
Argentina: Villafañe
Congo: Kabamba
Castilla lost Fran Rico, a player signed from Espanyol in the summer, to a ACL tear against Pontevedra last week. He looked a promising player, but we wish him the best of luck in his rehab of this injury. Castilla played Cienpozuelos two days ago and won 2-1, thanks to goals by Palanca and Juan Carlos. Another important win for the Castilla team, but this was also a special day because with the loss of Fran Rico, Julen Lopetegui decided to call up Samuel “Samu” Saize and Ruben Molero from the C Team. Samu, as you all may know, is an electrifying attacking midfielder who on his debut won the penalty that allowed Palanca to slot home. He played incredibly well, and we all hope he continues to progress, as he is definately one for the future.
Ruben Molero is a sturdy center back who captains the Spain u-17 team and he played with Marcos Tebar for this game. His progress will be closely monitored in the coming weeks and he will most likely stay with Castilla given injuries to the center backs.

Samu in Action for the C Team
Another list can be found here. Please look it up, as it details over the past three years all of the youth team players that have left Real. Its an interesting look at all of the talent we have lost in just three short years, and it makes you wonder why we have an academy at all. That will be my main talking point for this thread, so please discuss this.
