Sylvie’s coming to Madrid (and she’s bringing Rafael)!
By: Steve | August 4th, 2008
Hala Madrid! What up, Madridistas?!? I’ve just come back from a weekend of sun and fun at a friend’s wedding in Porto and Vigo, and it was AWESOME. The weather was fantastic, the food was mindblowing, and seeing old friends again all decked out to the nines was so much fun. As Spanish weddings go, I heard there wasn’t as much food as others (we didn’t eat for 5 hours), but it was still amazing and we made up for it by partying til 5.30am.
Anyway, I come back to London now to some more great news: Rafael van der Vaart is moving to Real Madrid! Los Merengues played Hamburg in the Emirates Cup on the weekend, and I’m sure the proximity of the teams and the sobering news of the injury to Wesley Sneijder (out for 3 months with ligament damage) forced Madrid’s hand.
Calderon upped his offer from the initial 6mil euros to 13mil euros, which Hamburg gladly took and ran, seeing as how they would’ve lost RvdV at the end of this season for a measly 1.5mil. So we now have another central midfielder, another Dutch international, but more importantly, a hottie WAG to post pics of every week! Yay for Sylvie!
I’ll leave others to comment on how Rafa (can I call him that or is that only for Nadal and Benitez?) fits into the team, but suffice it to say that maybe, just maybe, our pursuit of CRonaldo will chill out for a while.

I have been covering Van Der Vaart’s signing process on my blog for two weeks now and I became quite addicted to his website refreshing it every half an hour and so just to see if there was something new and today I saw the official announcement and I just broke the news lol, anyway, I think he is a valuable addition to the squad and I expect Schuster to play him in Sneijder’s place which means life is good for Guti.
Another good news is that Wesley will be out just for three months, it was assumed to be six months but the doctors confirmed it is three.
Cant wait for the league to start!

VdV might work, but I like to give out quality nick names that resonate with the player. Like Glass Boy, which Goal.com stole from me, or FrankenKahn, although he is retired now. Ezzy G will be great next year too.
