Where Heinze Found Himself During Games, On The Ground, Rolling Around In Over Exaggerated Pain To Win An Imaginary Foul Because He Screwed Up Clearing The Ball Properly ARGHHHHH!

Finally, the bane of my existence has left Real Madrid. Gabriel Heinze has been sold to Olympique Marseille, for a still undisclosed fee on a three year contract. The news comes from Marseille’s own site which broke the news not to long ago. Heinze returns to France where he previously played with rivals PSG, which seems like a strange move in terms of allegiances, but surely Heinze is interested in the project that Didier Deschamps is building there. He leaves Real having played 44 games over two seasons, chipping in with three goals and winning a league in his first season, but also driving fans man for his consistently bad defending at center or left back. I would like to let him leave on a high note, but I really never liked this guys style, so I dont mind seeing him go, well until I reconsider below.

To me this is further proof of Pellegrini’s very strong eye for talent. He has instantly weeded out the bad players from the squad including Javi Garcia, Saviola, Heinze and soon to be Huntelaar and probably Van der Vaart. He still has not cast that eye of Suaron over Fernando Gago, but theres still a month left in the market. Valdano, Pardeza and co. continue to do there work in cleaning up the squad, which is still at an astonishing 29 players not counting 7 (well really 6 since Adan is a first teamer now) Castilla players who are with the first team, as when Arbeloa came in, Heinze’s departure did not clear up any space. They have their hands full if they are to keep cleaning up the squad, but its looking likely that they will be able to trim two if not three in the near future.

We all know Heinze was not the best defender to ever grace the Real Madrid shirt. Rolling around on the ground after the slightest contact to win fouls that were rarely given ring a bell? How about committing stupid fouls on rash tackles that gave away decisive free kicks, like against Liverpool at home last year. Sloppy marking that almost always lead to a chance on goal, or maybe a poor clearance that goes straight to David Pizarro to drive home two years ago in Rome. The best part of Heinze was how he got even more aggressive and rough when he was in his own penalty box, often giving away needless penalties or coming damn near close. Whats not to like? I was never anywhere close to being a fan of his. But I lost something to do with this transfer, something thats more important then you think. I lost a player I could scapegoat, sometimes unfairly, over defensive woes. I lost a straw dummy if you will to poke fun at, and that dummy is going to have to be replaced. Who will that be? We will have to wait until the season is over and someone scores a header off a free kick and then two minutes later scores an own goal. Heinze xoxo.

Gabi Heinze, dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.

When the papers say ‘undisclosed fee’… does that mean Madrid are not willing to disclose how much they paid Marseilles?

Haha, you’re right Corey – there’s at least one thing we’re going to miss about Heinze (America’s favorite hack-up, er, ketchup). That is: making fun of him. As for the resident scape goat status, I think a lot of posters in this forum are casting a scrutinizing gaze on Lady Gago (good one Jonas!).

Mayowa – Huntelaar is the easiest target for sale, screw him for wrecking the Stuttgart deal. I still think Van der Vaart has got to o, and I’m of the opinion that the best move for Drenthe (AcciDrenthe – you’re right! How could we forget that one, Hector?!) is a loan. That would still mean at least one more player has to go, and here is my list of candidates:

    Van the Man
    Robben
    Salgado
    Sneijder

After his preseason performances, Robben is looking more and more expendable. It would be a sacrifice of width, but with Grenaro, Marcelo and Higuain as options, I’m cozying up to his absence. And a lot of people want to see Sneijder stay, but I don’t really see his role with the squad.

It would be sad to see van Nistelrooy go, but you’re right: with Benzema, Raul, Negredo, Higuain and the option of Kaka or Ronaldo as 2nd strikers – a forward has to go. Due to his age and his last injury, Van’s looking to be the likeliest option.

Oh, and if Alonso does end up coming to the Bernabeu, as a lot of us are hoping will happen, I’m sorry but one of Gago and M.Diarra have to go.

I agree John, I do not see what Sneijder brings to the team even if Xabo Alonso is not brought in. We have Granero, Kaka and Guti who I all rate higher then him and I have a feeling Pellegrini does too. I think he is more expendable then Robben, and here is my reason why: Robben is injury prone. He is a sub at best because of this, because I guarantee that he will be out 3-4 months out of the season. He is a good player, but I dont see him really being a menace to the lineup for Ronaldo, Granero or Kaka if he is always injured, so when he is fit use him, and when he breaks down use the rest.

If Xabi Alonso is brought in, I dont see any room for Gago either, but again we are sending one out when we get one in, which is sound transfer policy only when you are not already over the player registration limit. I have a feeling that Diarra and Ruud are not up for sale for two reasons. One being Pellegrini has not had a chance to run the rule over them in play yet, which is important for the coach. And the two is no one is willing to take them because they both are coming off serious injuries, so besides Blackburn for Ruud, no one is panting over their availability.

On a sad note, the ETA set a bomb off in Mallorca today and killed two police officers. Sad stuff. When will this violence end?

Hy guys! How are you doing? I got back from my trip to Marocco and I´m so happy i have so much stuff to catch up, I remember Cesar took part in this summer posting duties, or was it John??? (i don´t remember!) Great work anyhow…
I really love this blog so I´ll make it to the point I feel back home again. Thank you guys for entertaining me (not like Marca or AS [who copies everything Marca discloses]…)
I loved the post where we had to tell our favourite formations but I didn´t have the time to say anything. Thanks for everything again! Take good care (and visit Marocco if you have the chance!)!! Best wishes, James!!!!!!!!!!

JamesMadrid, welcome back man, it was me who took care of the blog while Corey was out, but I haven’t had the time since Corey came back to write anything new (I know Corey, I know…), guess I’m just waiting to write about Real’s visit to DC on August 9th…

Welcome back James! And Cesar, I’m a big fan of Corey’s, and I really enjoyed your posts. I was hoping the two of you could tag-team, like Kxevin and Isaiah do over at the Barcelona offside. Hope you find enough extra time to do so!

Corey – I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if Ruud and Diarra stay, they’re both among the best in the world at their respective positions on their day. I still wonder how many more of those days they will have.

Hi guys, let’s not taunt him anymore, I’ve really enjoyed our discussions without the distractions from the likes of him.

On the scapegoat-to-be: Lady Gago is a no-brainer.

On Sneijder being the odd-man-out: I think it might be too soon to say. but If Granero keeps playing like he’s done so far, it would make sense for us to sell him. Robben, though injured is still useful as a winger (and there aren’t many left out there) and I’m thinking that he probably won’t whine as much if he’s in a much more talented squad and not starting when unfit.

On Xabi Alonso’s deal: maybe someone can trick Rafa into accepting 20m + VDV… or Lady Gago! Then we’ll be done with it. And though many Madridistas would kill me for saying this, I wouldn’t mind seeing Goldilocks used as Transfer Fodder either.
