The countdown begins…

By: Cesar | July 5th, 2009

So we’re still many hours away from the big event; some sources (As.com) are estimating a full stadium for CR9 presentation’s tomorrow at 9 pm local time.

I will post a link for the Live presentation in this post, but for those of you that don’t have time to check this site, go straight here, there should be a link on the main page that should take straight to the live video stream. I’ve watched Kaka’s and Albiol’s presentation on that page, and it has worked pretty well.

Just some random thoughts…

1. There are reports of an offer to Bayern for Ribery: 17 mill + Robben+Sneijder; it looked ok to me until I saw Wesley’s name; I’d rather have VDV on that deal, so I’d like you to share your thoughts on that possible deal.

2. Who of the Dutch contingent do you think we should get rid of as of yesterday???

3. What’s going to happen with Raul??? will he step aside as El Buitre did for him, or will he still be part of the starting 11???

Anyways, see you tomorrow for CR9’s presentation, HALA MADRID!!!

How is Kaka a better passer than Iniesta? Kaka doesn’t have the vision Iniesta has nor can he link up with players like Iniesta. When it comes to counter attacks Kaka is king, but when closed out like against South Africa, he runs out of options and looks ordinary. But to each his own, I haven’t been impressed with Kaka since 07, Iniesta is getting better every year and there’s no doubt in my mind who the better player is right now.

We don’t necessarily have to play with a 4 3 3 we can play with a 4 4 2 and still offer the kinda football we’ve made our name with del bosque used to play with a double of makelele and conceicao with zidane on the left and figo on the right and back then we played the best football on the planet , way better football than the one this current barca team plays if you ask me

Jnice like you said to each his own , I’m not that impressed with iniesta ’s vision how many goals have barca scored off of a iniesta throught ball this year ? All of his are cut backs
If you don’t think that kaka link ups and his vision are great then I don’t think you’ve watched enough of him

I don’t know how we could run the Del Bosque style 4-4-2 if Ribery comes without one of Kaka, Cronaldo, or Ribery on the bench. Unless Kaka gets used in the double pivot beside a Diarra or Cronaldo plays as a forward. That is how we screwed up last time when Beckham came in and players played out of position.

Drew remember that CR can play as a support striker but it will mean that one of higuain and benzema will come off the bench
The team I have in mind will look like this
    Iker
    Ramos pepe albiol heinze/marcelo
    Ribery alonso lass kaka
    Ronaldo benzema/ higuain

I like Ribery, and he is a good player, but wouldn’t you rather spend that money on a good defender. Is Ribery worth Sneijder, Robben, Higuain’s playing time, 15 million, more time for players to gel together, and greater chance of egos clashing? Any other time I would say yes. But are we gaining that much by getting him? Our offense is already going to be deadly. If we wait a year he price should go down. It all depends on where Pelligrini wants to play his players. I would rather hold on to Sneijder and play the waiting game with Bayern. They won’t hold an uncontent Ribery very long. You make valid points and I have no doubt your idea would work. But I don’t see it as a necessity.

A couple thing I haven’t heard mentioned concerning L’affaire Ribery and whether or not he’d be a good and/or necessary signing at this point: one quality he possesses that can’t be said of Real’s other galactic signings is that he tracks back and contributes a good amount to the defense. For a winger he has a wicked tackle and an excellent work rate. He would make the 4-3-3 much more possible – maybe something like (starting w/ the midfield)

    …Kaka-Lass-Ribery…
    Higuain-Benzema-Ronaldo

Still looks extremely weak defensively, though. I’m also still not convinced that sacrificing two quality players who are important to the squad’s depth is a good idea. Yeah, Robben gets injured a lot and Wesley’s a bit of a specialist, but they both are very talented and could be game changers given the right situations. Once again, if Real are serious about the CL, they need a deep squad, which they won’t have if they sell off the entire Dutch contingent.

And though I love Raul, can you really justify benching any of these guys just so he can start?

That the hardest part of this upcoming season, I suppose, watching a galactico being benched.

Sure CR9 is a good player, though overrated, but I’m really worried about one thing. He hasn’t prove himself at the highest level, have he? He didn’t win EPL on his own. I believe only recently that he won something like Champions League, World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or winner (whom most of them plays for Real in some part of their career). I don’t rate him much, but for my beloved Madrid, I do hope he’ll playing his heart out in the Whites.

Don’t get me wrong, if we get Ribery this year it won’t be a bad thing. Espescially if Bayern lower their expectations and we can keep Sneijder. I’m not entirely sure Kaka won’t take a knock like last year and Sneijder is the player I feel most comfortable with stepping into his role. Hopefully Kaka doesn’t get injured though *knocks on wood* I wouldn’t be upset if Ribery came and we used a 4-3-3. Just as long as Pelligrini wants it.

Well, to be honest, i can only see this team working on a 4-4-2 basis. This is how it will go:

    iker
    Ramos-pepe-albiol-marcelo/heinze
    L.diarra/M.diarra-Gago/shneider
    CR9 kaka
    higuain/raul- benzema

i think we should play M. diarra against more physical teams although not many in LA Liga. I also believe that shneider is a keeper as he can provide the holding role in midfld and pass the ball well for the players upfront. He is one of the most versatile players in the game and could be used well in case of injury. higuain is also versatile as he can play as a right winger (something he tried to do this year) and would be cover for ronaldo if he gets injured. VDV could be cover for kaka on the left. Sell robben as he had a good season this year and could be sold for a good price. Ruud should leave too. It seems that hunter is on his way out too. What happens now, is negredo our backup striker?
The main problem i see is the left back position, as i believe that all the players we have are below par and shouldn’t play in a top four team. Marcelo is good attacking but is scary when it comes to defense, especially in a team that is suppose to be soo offensive next year.

i think we should put some money in a solid left back. Sell heinze for sure. Sell salgado too. Give a contera a chance to be backup for ramos. Why don’t we think of porto’s left back? He should be cheaper now with all his problems with milan…

    Hala Madrid!

what a brainwash this summer has been for all madrid fans… yesterday with the ronaldo presentation was totally surreal. they haven’t won ANYTHING and they feel like the kings of the world… to be fair with reality, FCB is the king of the world. triplete winners period.

It’s only nice to support madrid during the summer, the rest of the year is ours for sure. they go to the field to see a male model lying and saying “hala madrid” and we go to see our homebred youngsters playing art football. there is such a big difference between those who love the game and those who love the money, all madrikitas buying t-shirts as if they were sheep and they haven’t seen a single game yet. florentino is playing with their minds and that is very sad.

so what does “mku” stand for? “Madrid Kings of the Universe”???? Yeah, I thought so…

Once again, cule’s can’t spend ONE DAY without referring to what we do or don’t, if that’s not the trait of an inferiority complex, I don’t know what is, anybody a shrink amongst us???

Yeah, we Madrid fans are only in it for the money, you’re right…, please, enjoy your success and let us enjoy OUR TEAM, PLAYERS, etc; what we do, and how we do it it’s OUR CHOICE, so please wake up, go to work, and send some of your money to Sala i Martin so he can buy the players Pep wants, and pay the 400 mill in debt…

it’s just irrational hate cesar, and love of football… SPANISH FOOTBALL, OUR FOOTBALL.

    repeat (1)
    tri-ple-te

    repeat (2)
    seven – canteranos – in – the final – against – manchester

there is no way that anyone makes a winner team in one summer, no matter how much money the banks gave him. The teams should teach the kids some values like effort and long term achievements, madrid is just about the money. It took 10 years for xavi and iniesta to play like they are doing now…. We raised them, madrid just buys established players… that makes me sick and makes my “barcelonismo” greater.

We have our own zidane, iniesta and we didn’t buy him when he was established and everyone knew him. We have our own Cr9, messi… idem. We raise them and educate them in our game philosophy, you buy them when everyone know who they are, no risk at all.

madrid vs barça, gotta take one side.

Mku lol you dumb asss if we only win in the summer and the rest of the year is for you then how come we have twice as much trophies as you? Doesn’t that mean we’ve won more than you ON THE PITCH in general ? Lol to get to our level of prestige it’ll take you centuries of winning my friend
Anyways I’m sure that Even a bum like you knows that in the long run you’ll always be inferior to us that’s where all the hatred comes from actually

Mku and we haven’t raised any players in the past huh what about players like casillas , raul , guti , de la red , parejo , javi garcia , torres palanca all in the madrid team last season
And if you really look at it you bought messi when he was what ? 14 or 15 ? So he wa s already half made , you do buy players too you just do it when they’re a little younger

And o yea don’t ever put iniesta and zidane’s name in the same sentence again please thank you very much

triplete: congratulations, now let us ENJOY OUR SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP as you put it

canteranos: good for you, a batch like doesn’t come often, they’ll surely bring you some comfort when we go back to our winning ways…

Iniesta vs Zidane…, don’t get me started, please, to say iniesta is at ZZ’s level is just MORONIC…

hahahaha, did you just put iniesta and zidane in the same sentence? that’s just stupid. wait till iniesta wins three balon de oros to even begin.

and as for comparisons between barcelona’s tradition and philisophy to madrid’s – our notion is to be the best, to have the best players from spain and from the rest of the world. sure, our cantera hasn’t produced a whole lot in comparison to yours over the last few years, but over decades we’ve had the much greater players come through our ranks.

and lastly, you wanna talk so much about your success from last season, read this:

    Real Madrid – 31 Ligas, 9 Champions
    Barcelona – 19 Ligas, 3 Champions

open your mouth when you’ve learned something.
