The Hunter Trains, 2 Diarras!?! and Transfer Nonsense

By: Corey | December 17th, 2008

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas to all! We have today a…., well an explosion of interesting transfer gossip, player news and training information for everyone to enjoy. It wouldnt be the beginning of the silly season without a whole lot of transfer nonsense, but lets leave that for later and get right down to the important stuff. And that starts with yesterdays training session, where Klaas Jan Huntelaar trained with a few of the other injured players at Valedbabas. Good news, as he is expected to be fit for his first game against Vilarreal on January 4th. Excellent news for Juande as he looks for more then just Saviola as an option up front.

Also in training ground news, more Castilla players trained with the first team today due to the absences of Raul and Ramos due to the flu. Bueno and Palanca continued with the squad as usual, but Agus again was called up to traing with the squad. And Daniel Opare made his first training session with the first team, in what was an excited day for not just him, but all of us Real fans who have high hopes for the youngster. If Ramos cant play against Valencia due to the flu, we may see Opare or Javier Velayos on the bench. It would hurt the team, but I just cant wait to see Opare in action.

Training Pics!

Van de Vaart Presser:

Its not a hidden fact that Rafeal Van de Vaart has been shit for the past three months. He started out four goals in his first month, but since then has been dismal. Played out of position, poor tactical instruction, a lack of confidence etc. are all given as reasons as to why he is not playing well. The first one may be true, but he needs to work his ass off to learn a new position then, because I highly doubt Juande gives him the free role his desires, much like Schuster did not. Here is what the lad had to say about rumors of him being sold in the January or summer transfer window and a reaction to his below par performances:

It seems the Sports Department at the Club isn’t happy with your performances so far and it is rumoured you may leave in December…
I don’t know anything about that besides what I’ve read in the press. I guess I would be the first to find out. The Club would have talked to me about it. I’ve only been here five months and it is still too soon to reach such conclusions. No one has said anything to me about it.

The truth is you don’t seem to enjoy yourself on the pitch…
That’s true. I played very well during my first month on the team and scored four goals. But all the blame shouldn’t rest on the player; it’s a combination of things. I do admit that my performance level has dropped.

Can the lack of playing time be the problem?
The problem is mine to start with. I played well against Sevilla, but I was benched in the second half. I have to grasp the situation, grow as a player and train to improve.

How did you feel when Palanca was chosen to replace Sneijder against Barcelona?
Palanca is a right winger. That’s not my position. He played fantastically well and I understand the coach’s choice. I have nothing against it.

Have you set yourself a possible date to leave the Club?
I’m not very happy and I am in a difficult situation. I work very hard to enjoy more playing time.

You haven’t played in your natural position since you arrived. That may be the reason why you aren’t playing too well…
I’ve always been an attacking midfielder. I have to train a lot, but I feel like things are going to get better.

It seems the squad thinks it didn’t do much physical work before. Is the team really in bad shape?
We train harder now, but I don’t think we are in bad shape. Nevertheless, training more will have its benefits.

What do you think of Lassana Diarra? It seems he is going to sign for the team…
He is a very good and strong footballer. He played for Chelsea and now he is at Portsmouth.

Juande spoke to you yesterday…
He likes to talk to his men and that is very good for us because it helps create a good atmosphere. He is a very good coach. He instills confidence.

Good answers, but I would hold on to him til the summer. Its really difficult to adjust to a new league so quickly, we should have patience with him. At worst a loan to another La Liga team, despite his high profile and price tag, to get him in the speed of things. But with all of the players Real could have in his place, i.e. Granero, Parejo, and currently injured but exciting Castilla player Fran Rico, he should tread carefully.

TRANSFER NEWS:

Sometimes I feel like John Stewart, or more appropriately Steven Colbert, when I write about transfer news for Real. I take it seriously, but theres hints of sarcasm and humor in everything I say because my sources are such football news luminaries like Goal.com or El Mundo. Its just hard to take much of anything they publish as truthful. But without haste, here is what I scrounged up in the past few days.

- Lassana Diarra seems a certain thing. A 10 million pound offer has been accepted and he should be talking to Real about a contract right now. I saw somewhere that the boy dreams of Real Madrid. Lets hope they arent wet dreams, we already have a premature ejaculator on the team, his name is Saviola. Dont understand? Well Saviola gets excited whenever he gets close to the goal but ends of spunking and then misses the glorious oppurtunity provided to him. Still dont get it? Watch this:

This came out two weeks ago, but I still listen to the song all the time. Its hilarious, if immature. Enjoy!

- We are interested in the new Beckham. If the new Beckham had a little darker skin, could dribble a bit better and wasnt anywhere close to as good at crossing and deadball situations. Ashley Young, the Watford product he plays for high flying Aston Villa is who the press had given the unfortunate title, and it seems Juande is smitten because he can play on the right wing. Extra Ordinary. Not extraordinary, just extra ordinary. This is probably one of the worst rumors I have seen yet. Wait no, the ones linking us with Huerlho Gomes, Roman Pavs or Didier Zokora seem pretty attrocious too. Who hired these clowns to make up this garbage?

- Dani Parejo is probably coming back to us in January. To do what, play for Castilla? Check this out. Must be true. I think this is a bad move, he needs experience, he is getting it little by little there. Our midfield is still to crowded for him.

- Juventus appreciates Drenthe. Says so on Marca next to that awful picture of Parejo. Take him, I dont care. What is the deal with young Spanish men having out of control curly Jew fros? Parejo, Granero, Marcos from Vilarreal on loan at Sociedad. Get a hair cut hippie.

- “My dream is to play for Real Madrid and I think it is a goal that may be close.

“I like the shirt of Madrid, the stadium and the atmosphere that is breathed there.

“I told my mother that one day I’ll play for Real Madrid and I want it to become a reality.”

Who said this? Lassana Diarra….no. Diego Capel……..no! A random child on the streets of Salamanca? No. It was Karim Benzema, Lyon super stud and cocky “gangsta” as labeled by Greg Coupet. I like the lad, he is a great player, and I do hope he comes to Real this summer. Is Lyon gonna win the CL this year to keep him? No. But they could get to the semis if they are lucky, and I think that would be enough to convince him to stay. Which is fine, he needs another season in France to guarentee his place in the France squad for South Africa. After that he comes to Madrid. Its not like his 100 million euro price tag can get much more out of hand. But if it does come down to this summer, its him or Ronaldo, and we all know where that ends up:

Calderon: “Cristiano or Karim”
Mijatovic: “Cristiano has many intangible that we could use. He has lots of beauty products for the squad, and he attracts numerous English hookers.”
Calderon: “Hmm, I like that. I have been gellin my hair lately. Karim does not have these things?”
Mijatovic: ” No, Karim likes things like this. Cristiano will also sell lots of shirts, Karim not so much”
Calderon: “Ay, then its Cristiano. Maybe he brings one of his and Anderson’s sex slaves for me?”
Mijatovic: “Ramon, your pants, tuck away your erection, we must talk to the press!”

Thats how its gonna do down. Benzema over Ronaldo campaign starts now!

- Here, this will make everyones day. It wont go away will it. Ronaldo would be great for us, but I prefer Benzema, its a money thing. Plus, whats worse, a whiney Frenchmen named Jean Michel Auluas demanding more and more euros to pay for his coke habit or a angered, drunken Scot throwing boots and hairdryers at you?

- Christian Maggio, a sort of up-and-coming Italian defender for Napoli is rumored to be watched by Real scouts. Check it here. Thanks Goal.com for another great article where to basically copy and paste an interview and write some bullshit about it. Ohh, wait, I do that from time to time…

Lol, that was great Corey, I’ve also been following all the transfer rumours, and I’m not surprised at all the names being mentioned; that’s just As and Marca at their best, feeding the fans with names to sell more papers…

I don’t understand the strategic planning (if there’s any) that goes on at Real, but it seems that every year we have to do this, sign players on the winter market, or at times when their price has increased, etc; as I said in various posts, I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE DAY WHEN PEDJA AND MIJATOVIC LEAVE THE CLUB…

    Soms thoughts about your post:

    1. at the moment we have two spots available (ruud’s and diarra’s); those spots are being filled by diarra, and somebody else; so what happens next season, when we have to extra players? who’s leaving the club? another thing, if we go for benzema, which striker loses playing time?, and I just remembered about garay, he’s coming next year, so wich defender is leaving, or losing playing time???

I just can’t imagine making such a big investment on benzema, to have him ride the bench with huntelaar and higuain…

    2. Regarding what I said before, I just don’t see any strategy or identitiy in our planning, and it pains me to say this, but I give props to Barza for having theirs, and sticking to it. For us, every year we have to start anew (coaches, players, presidents, etc), there’s no sense of stability at the club, and that’s what worries me…

    3. Give van der Vaart a chance: PUT HIM IN A SITUATION WHERE HE CAN SUCCEED, THAT’S ALSO PART OF BEING A COACH, AND IF THAT MEANS RAUL HAS TO GO TO THE BENCH, SO BE IT. I really want to see him succeed at the Bernabeu…

    4. So in the end, I think next year, these players have to leave the club: Saviola, Metzelder, Salgado, Drenthe, marcelo. That would leave us with these players:

Defenders: Pepe, Ramos, Garay, Cannavaro, Torres, Heinze

Midfielders: Sneijder, Gago, Guti, De la Red, Diarra, Diarra, Javi Garcia, Van der Vaart

Strikers: Raul, Ruud, Higuain, Robben, Huntelaar

I don’t know, it looks like one of the teams I used to create on FIFA on my xbox…

    Take care everybody

Regarding Raul, I know he’s our captain and that he means a lot to us madridistas, but if we’re going to be succesful in the coming years, it doesn’t make sens to buy up and coming strikers (huntelaar, and hopefully, benzema) if he’s still playing most of the time. Hopefully he’ll also realize this, that we need him to step aside for the club to be successful in the coming future…

Good points Cesar! It worries me as well all the players we buying and when the ones returning from injury return it would make our squad really big. Just a question, how big can our squad be? Can we have more than 25 players on our squad? If not, who will be sold?

Corey, with this post you’re at the top of your game. Great stuff.

Cesar – I’m thinking similar things. It seems like this mid-season panic could ruin any chance of a cohesive plan for strengthening the team. What a lot of Madrid fans have been saying is that we need at least one or two players who are among the best in the world at their positions. This winter transfer market looks to see los blancos pick up a bunch of adequate stop-gaps that will clog up our squad when summer comes.

I know it’s premature, but I really think the title is out of reach this year – which is the perfect excuse to give players like Chema Anton, Palanca and Garcia chances. The only risk would be a failure for European qualification – I understand that. So it’s tough. But I still think we’re creating quite the summer quagmire.

And speaking of Palanca (I’ve purposely been avoiding this space since the Barcelona game. I’ve nothing to say about it except…) Was anyone else seriously impressed by his performance? Sure, he made some poor decisions and his positioning could’ve been better, but that’s to be expected from a 20 YO. If we’re looking for width on the right, I’m sold on this guy, at least until summer.

Finally, and returning to my first point: I’ve written it before, but I think Benzema should be one of our main targets. If Huntelaar ends up blowing that for us, I’ll be PISSED.

Supposively Jean Michel Auluas and Benzema sat down and had a more then a couple chats with Real Madrid in the past few weeks. A 40 million euro fee is whats expected, with a player swap probable as well. I think Benzema and Auluas have come to an agreement on his future, and Lyon will now talk to Real about a move either this summer or next summer. Benzema, despite what media outlets suggest, loves Lyon deeply and does not want to leave them high and dry, but if they fail to progress in the CL he may look else where to further his career. I would be so happy if we signed him.

Palanca was good, I would like to see more from him. As for the winter “panic” buying, I disagree with the sentiment that there is no plan and will do a piece on that in the next few days because it offers an interesting look in to the player movement we could see this summer.

    Corey,

I really don’t think they have a plan, they might have an IDEA of what they want, but as for an STRATEGIC PLAN, I see nothing like that being implemented…

Also, this whole nonsense with the “lifetime contracts”, are you effing kidding me???? The only player I would give a lifetime contract in our squad is Casillas, Raul is on his final years, so is Guti (and he’s the only one who didn’t deserve it out of the trio)

From what I see, there’s too much improvisation, and since we have a new coach every 1.5 seasons, there’s no long term planning (at least for a couple of seasons), and now we have an unbalanced squad, players coming in (garay, benzema?), maybe some going out (saviola, salgado, metzelder, vdv, canna?, drenthe?), and no clear signs of what they want; I think that Benzema won’t come to our team, because of Huntelaar’s signing, and if that happens, the only person to blame is PEDJA MIJATOVIC, THE SPORTING DIRECTOR, AND CALDERON, OUR GOOD FOR NOTHING PRESIDENT…

John and Donovan, thanks for your comments

    1. I don’t know where you get your information from, but it would be good to do some checking on your part before coming to the forum and writing all that nonsense

    2. You really think it possible that Atletico would sell Aguero? and if so, they would sell him to us??? once again, you show how little you know regarding La liga, ATLETICO WOULD NEVER SELL AGUERO TO US, THEY WOULD SELL HIM TO BARZA FIRST RATHE THAN US…

    3. But I guess your point is that we only buy players from other clubs; you may have a point there, let’s see: Parejo (QPR), Javi Garcia (Osasuna), De La Red (Getafe), Bueno, Palanca, Anton (Castilla), yeah, you’re probably right…

    4. Once again you prove that your name totally suits you; your blind hate for our team doesn’t let you see anything in an objective way, but hey, we can’t pick the persons, or entities in your, case that post on this blog

    Madridistas,

Salgado said it best on an interview:

” the problem the club has is that there’s no long term planning, it’s as if we plan on a monthly basis ”

Even the players know there’s no long term planning whatsoever, so how come the top management doesn’t do anything about it???

Once again, the best example is VDV, they him a year earlier, because of Wesley’s injury, and now they’re saying he might be on his way out, when he’s only been playing sparingly!!!! Juande, PLASE GIVE RAFA AN OPPORTUNITY!!! so as Mijatovic and Calderon don’t seem more stupid than they already are!!!!

ACtually cesar, i said its bs that madrid signed aguero. Notice the “BS”. My point is all madrid ever try to do is sign big names, and tempt youngsters from other clubs with their money. And in recent years, they have failed, and its embarassing. WHen kaka was the best player of the year, they tried to sign him. Same with ronaldo. So now, they will go for messi after he wins the award next year. Look at madrid, a couple years back they tried to sign iniesta, and this year, they tried to get busquets. This has been madrid, and will always be madrid. If they had a budget, of any other top team, they wouldnt win anything. Y do u think so many ppl hate madrid? its because they buy their way through everything.

“Parejo (QPR), Javi Garcia (Osasuna), De La Red (Getafe), Bueno, Palanca, Anton (Castilla), ”

Obviously all teams will have castilla players. But these players are not important players for madrid, they r not the ones who win u trophies. Lets take a look at who barca have raised in their youth system:

Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Valdes, puyol, bojan. All these players are superstars, except maybe bojan (at least not yet). Who does madrid have? Raul, guti, de la red? If u take out all the castilla players, they would not be any worse. This is the probable starting lineup without their youth products, “dudek, heinze, cannavaro, pepe, sneijder, gago, robben, higuain, rvn, huntleear” These are all players were bought, and this is likely gonna be their starting lineup when all players are fit. These days, rvn, sneijder, robben, and higuain are the ones who win u games. PROOF THAT MADRID DEPENDS ON PLAYERS WHO WERE BOUGHT.

Barca: Xavi, valdes, iniesta, messi, puyol are absolutely vital to the team. At least we depend on our own products not some other team’s. Imagine what would happen to barca wihout their castilla products.

There is nothing to be proud of madrid. All their history, all their trophies, all their successs is because of players they bought, there is nothing to be proud of a team that has a lot of money.

Barcelona does not try to sign big name players? Signing Henry was not a big name signing meant to keep Laporta in the job and help Rijkaard regain the league? This summer didnt see a spending spree by Barca to get Pep the players he requested?

Players in Barca’s first team who have been purchased: Yaya Toure, Seydou Keita, Dani Alves, Martin Caceres, Alexander Hleb, Samuel Etoo, Sylvinho, Henry, Jose Pinto, Eric Abidal, Gabi Milito, Pique, Gudjohnsen. Thats 13 players, while Real has the following amount: 14. Barca have bought 13 players in their first team, Real have bough 14. If you include Huntelaar its 15, and Diarra is 16. So thats three more players then Barca. If you look at the cash outlays of both clubs for these players you would see that they are a few hundred thousand dollars disperity between the two.

Barca signed Keita, Alves, Hleb, Pique, Caceres and Pinto this summer alone! Last I check 5 of those 6 have played a few games this year for you. Check your facts before you come in here ranting and raving, I have warned you before, if you have nothing constructive to say then keep quiet. Final warning.

Also, Mr. I Hate Madrid, i suggest you not take all newspaper articles so seriously. Both Iniesta and Pedro Busquets were touted as people Real were after only when they had contract negotiations going on. That might be because the agents wanted more money from Barca and what better way than to make the Barca management feel Real wants them. Papers are printed to sell copies these days, not to disseminate valid confirmed information, as you so obviously seem to think all these stories are.
And getting big name players is also a good marketing ploy, necessary to remain competitive in these money-driven times.

Hey guys. Corey that is a really funny post. And the I jizzed my pants song, applied to saviola, was just completely hilarious.

I was just going to say that we too have bought a lot of players during the years that have long passed. I mean the 3 players that left this season were from those we bought. Ronaldinho, Deco which were key to winning the league titles and the Champions. Zambrota was sold as well. I would not count Pique though. Yes we bought him BACK from Man U. But he was origanilly ours. And Alves was bought for a huge sum of money

I defenitaly do not speak for I H M. But I guess that what he is trying to say is that they depend a lot more on the signings of stars then most big clubs. I would agree only in respect to Barça we do have a huge dependce on home made players i.e. Messi,Xavi,Iniesta,Puyol,Busquets,Bojan,Valdez,

Such leads to my question. From reading your previous post I had the idea that y’all wanted to see Real use their Castilla more and promote it’s players to the first team. Itseems as though Juande wants to do that. Buying too many players will undoubtedly hinder that.

    Visca el Barça.

I for one would love to see more inclusion/development of Castilla players (see above post) and it does seem like Juande’s willing to give them a try, which has him winning points in my book. I doubt any of our prospects will turn out to be the next Messi, but hopeful the likes of Opare, Parajo, Palanca, Anton and Garcia play a role in the second half of the season. And of course there’s De la Red…

tom and john- I think its silly for anyone to think that Real fans dont care about there youth team. We all here, and I speak for everyone with certainty, when I say that we want nothing more then to see our youth team players make it to the first team. Of course certain players are not good enough, while others simply dont take their chance and have to move on. But the crop of players we have now is excellent, and I think many of them can make it in the first team under Juande. Unfortunately we had a great group two years ago, the generation of De la Red, Granero, Arbeloa, Negredo, Nieto, Callejons, Soldado and Adrian Gonzalez that was mis-managed. But we can attone for that mistake by bringing more and more Castilla players into the fold. De la Red is a first team regular, while Granero will probably be bought back and Negredo was rumored to be there. Soldado had his chance and to be honest didnt take it, while Adrian and Nieto more or less still need time. Arbeloa has made a name for himself in England which is great and the Callejons both have had decent seasons so far, and while a recall doesnt look imminent, a solid second half of the season could up the chance that one if not both get a recall. Of course we have bought alot of players, but I feel that Juande knows home grown players will play with more passion then those bought, and the under performing “foreign imports” if you will, will be sold in the summer if Juande is still in charge in favor of giving youth team products either a recall or a promotion from the Castilla team full time. Its a great hope of mine, but I think its very possible.
