As far as the Copa was concerned, my silver lining was Drenthe. He’s played left wing in the last two games, and been impressive. He constantly digs deep into the opposition’s corner, and seems to have a bit more control over his crosses than Robinho does. I still doubt he’ll get much playing time, as Robinho is much better on the left than the right, and much better than young Royston, both at winging and at driving cars.

I think my biggest dissapointment was starting Ruud off on the bench. That, to me, was a concession that Madrid would once again put forward a half-hearted effort in Copa del Rey. I understand the want to rest him for the derbi this weekend (DERBI DERBI DERBI! HALA MADRID!) but, as I said before, I’m tired of Madrid under acheiving in the King’s Cup.
