Valencia Preview
By: Corey | October 31st, 2007
This will be quick, as my schedule isnt allowing my to post a much as I want to anymore. Real Madrid travel to Valencia for a midweek encounter that should prove dramatic if nothing else. Real have not lost in the past three visits to the Mestalla (which means they havent lost in 3 years) and Valencia sacked Quique Flores on Monday after the loss to Sevilla, our opponents this weekend. Obviously Sevilla lost their manager as well, so these two games in quick succession that looked like potential bananas are now looking like potential rape parties. And I say that in a respectful manner.
Here is a form guide for the two that I ripped from goal.com, and as ashamed as I am I will be traveling to the city yet again for a financial conference before meeting with the dean of my school to bang out a plan for me to graduate a semester early. A busy few days to say the least. Oh, and its Halloween today, so wear a mask, jump out of doorways and acost scantly clad women, its the only day such a thing is legal!

Real Madrid
For Real, Pepe is still out, as is Robben. Higuain has a strained quad and Salgado has a bruised vagina right knee. Soldado, Codina and Drenthe didnt make the squad. Piss poor Schuster, Soldado is sorta needed seeing as how Saviola was absolute balls against Deportivo.

Squad List
Iker Casillas, Dudek, Sergio Ramos, Heinze, Cannavaro, Metzelder, Marcelo, Miguel Torres, Diarra, Gago, Guti, Sneijder, Balboa, Robinho, Baptista, Raúl, Van Nistelrooy, Saviola
Not much will change, Cannavaro and Heinze reclaimed their spots, with Sergio Ramos back on the rigth and Sneider moved to the right because Robinho is so much better on the left. Other then that its all the same, lets hope Rocky Balboa and Baptista see some action. Baptista’s physical ability would work well against Helguera or Alexis, who are not as physical as say Marchena. But then again I am not the coach, what do I know.
Valencia
Valencia has a long injury list, with David Villa, Baraja, Marchena, Edu, Manuel Fernandes, and Santiago Cañizares all set to miss out. Youth team player Ángel Montoro was called up by stand in coach Oscar Fernandez due to the injury hit central midfield, but I would play Sunny there, kid is real good. Also, Juan Mata is in the squad and may face the club where he developed.

Squad List
Hildebrand, Mora, Miguel, Caneira, Albiol, Alexis, Helguera, Moretti, Joaquín, Albelda, Sunny, Montoro, Vicente, Gavilán, Mata, Arizmendi, Angulo, Silva, Morientes, Zigic
Id say Miguel–Albiol–Alexis–Moretti then Joaquin–Albelda–Sunny–Silva then Angulo–Moro with Zigic, Gavilan and possibly Mata coming of the bench. But I cant predict a lineup for a coach Ive never seen before, so thats a shot in the dark.
Im calling 2-1 Real, we have momentum sorta and they just lost their coach. I dont expect a Sevilla performance from them, so possibly 3-0. Hit those houses up and get lots of candy, then take it all down to the local bar and eat it while having a beer with the crew. Thats what ill be doin, adios.

Kind of a bummer to be playing such a weakened Valencia side - I was looking for a real test. But if we come out with a win, I suppose I won’t complain. And also, cheers to the comment about Balboa and/or the Beast. Those were my exact thought when scanning the squad list.
Let’s all get drunk and steal candy from children tonight!

HAHA, stealing candy from children is great. Whether your intoxicated or not. Balboa may get more then 3 minutes of time in this game since Sneijder really isnt that effective on the right. Also, Joao Moutinho and Miguel Veloso are both being heavily linked with Real, I for one wouldnt mind having both.

Madrid’s up 4-0 at half time: looks like they’re way ahead of me on the whole stealing candy from children bit.
(Ramos’ goal almost made me cry, it was so pretty.)

Sneijder really wasn’t missed, as Gago had a particularly good game and managed to combine defensive duties (which he could for once, share with Diarra) and feeding accurate balls forward to Guti, Robinho and the strikers. My favourite was Van Nistelrooy’s humiliation of Helguera and his subsequent chip over Hildebrand.
The formation hearkened back to Capello’s double pivot with Diarra and Emerson. Will Schuster stick with this against Sevilla?
