Welcome Kaka!!!
By: Cesar | June 30th, 2009
It all started beautifully, with a series of videos of the great players that have worn the whit shirt, Di Stefano, Zidane, Figo, etc, with images of Kaka with brazil and AC Milan, and I have to say, I got a little misty watching Zidane, HOW WE MISS YOU ZIZOU!!!!
Florentino’s speech was short, and to the point, telling the audience about kaka, his previous acomplishments, and welcoming him the the club.
As.com and Marca.com report that there were almost 40,000 people to watch kaka’s presentation, and from what I saw, that number could be pretty accurate.
Kaka adressed the fans in a very good Spanish, said he was happy to be here (AS WE ARE!!!!), and that he’s looking forward to winning trophies and matches with his new team, ending his speech with a
“HALA MADRID!!!”
And then, the mystery was finally over, when he turned around and showed us the number he’ll be wearing for the coming season, number 8. I was so caught up in the moment, that I didn’t remember who wore number 8 last season, finally realizing that it was Gago’s number. So that means that Gago is on his way out??? or just that he gave his number to Kaka???? I’d put my money on option number one.
I really liked the set up, the catwalk was a GREAT IDEA, and the fans chanting Di Stefano’s name was a nice touch; when Kaka got closer to the fans, it was pandemonium, some fans managed to get by the security guards to hug Kaka, and for some seconds I thought the barriers were going to give in because of all the people that were trying to get closer to touch Kaka, it kind of looked like a rock concert if you ask me.
Well, the wait is finally over, Kaka’s here!!!!!
Next Monday is CR’s turn, let’s see how many people turn out for his presentation…

As.com is reporting that Benzema is a done deal; we’ll have to wait and see, we all know how “reliable” As and Marca can be sometimes…
I’m a little dissappointed with this signing, because that means we’re giving up on Villa, and that’s a shame, Florentino should know that he has to be willing to pay top money for the top spanish players, and not treat them as if they weren’t good enough, I guess it has to do with human nature: items A and B are the same, they have similar quality, but we’re willing to pay more for item A just because it was made in another country, even though item B can give you the same results and satisfaction…
Oh well, I’ll post something when it becomes official

Cesar, aside from the fact that Villa is Spanish, Benzema has the clear edge over him. Benzema is a complete player at such a young age, and the potential there is just scary. He’s quicker and stronger, better in the air. Could easily eclipse Villa a few years down the track. I’d much rather get Benzema

Congrats on the posts Cesar! I also think Benzema is a better option than Villa. I think he always had his mind up of moving to Barca since Valencia never wanted to sell to us. On the sad news about De La Red atleast the club say there will always be a spot for him at madrid whether as a player or not. Glad to see they looking out for him.

My vote goes to Benzema too… at age 21, his potential is scary. If the 35m Euro price being talked aobut in the rumors is true, I’d say that’s a good deal as Valencia was asking for approx. 45m for a 27 year old Villa whom I think will be eclipsed by ‘Benzinho’ in a couple of years. This to me is not a case of item A & B being the same.
With his pace, ability in the air, strength and power and goalscoring… we are looking at an absolute BEAST of a player right here… the thought that he’s only 21 is something I can’t even get my head around. What kind of a monster will we have (if we land him) when he reaches his peak? An absolute wrecking ball against opposing defenses.
When we signed Huntelaar, I despaired at the thought of not seeing Benzema in White, so this bit of ‘news’ is getting me really excited. There are reports that are suggesting that Huntelaar is being targeted by Milan. 20m Euros is a good price for him I think.
All said however, I think it’s quite clever for us to being going on full assault mode on our transfer targets as the world and the press will be really focused on our presentations in these days.

Madridista Mac: Benzema does not have an ability in the air, that is the main flaw to his game. I watch a good amount of Lyon games as they are a second team to me as such, and he can barely make contact with a ball in the air with his head unfortunately. Other then that, he is a 8/10 for me right now as he stands. A great signing if we can pull it off, and something that all of us here have been demanding for two years now. Thank god, cause Nasri slipped through our fingers (even though he has not really panned out yet).

Logged on here to see what you guys were saying as I really don´t know the player at all, we never get the French league here in Spain, and I was too depressed to watch barça´s CL campaign this year.
Bummer about Corey´s heading comment as they will be good cross providers this year.
So looks like the team that Villa knew all along who he´d choose was Barça after all. Will the W!!nker Llorente think that 42k plus a transfer to be a scandalously scandalous offer – spose so.
When oh when is someone going to restore the long empty and debt ridden coffers. Saviola´s the only one I know about for sure.Posted from

As for the presentation yesterday, I thought that opera video thing a bit tacky personally, but hey if it´s gonna work in a marketing sense go for it, that´s Florentino´s so called forte after all and some bucks have got to be squirrelled away somehow.
Considering ´peacock´s´ signing was not popular with the average man on the street not for the money spent anyway, I doubt if his presentation will get the same numbers but we´ll see if Florentino can get all his extended family, contacts and all the staff of his favourite restaurants to turn up, that should do it.Posted from

Lol labomba
Anyways I’m not really excited about this signing to be honest outside of the ligue 1 he hasn’t proven anything he is very disapointing everytime he plays with france hope that hell prove me wrong though
also I wonder since we’re not likely to play with more than one striker in the line up next year espcially if we get another midfielder in ribery if benzema comes where would that leave higuain (a kid that is as good as him IMO) ?
I know some of you would say that the most in form out of the 2 will start but no way will that be the case , benzema’s 35 mil price tag makes him an automatic starter , I feel for pipitaPosted from

No i don’t think Ribery will come, I think Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa will arrive.
Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Pepe, ALBIOL, ARBELOA; Lass, XABI ALONSO, KAKA, RONALDO; Higuain, BENZEMA

Alright but even if ribery doesn’t come , we still have robben who will likely start many games if he keeps playing at the level he was last season , higuain will be the one suffering from this un

I heard that Robben has been told that he should look for a transfer because he was too injury prone and we need cash. Could be Perez’s ego getting in the way. Its probably a rumor though. Anybody else hear about this?

No I haven’t heard of that but even if it was true I don’t think that its perez making these decisions

I was wondering though since gago got the number 5 and all does
That mean he is staying ? If so then I will ask what exactly does this kid bring to the team ? If you ask me its better that we ship him out and give his number to mahamadou who I don’t think will get his number 6 back since Lass now sports that those two guys bring a lot more than gago since they can at least defend gago can neither defend or attack if not mahamadou then replace him with granero some people might say that he is not ready to play for madrid and stuff but remember neither is gago and i ‘d much rather wait on of our own canteranos to fufill his potential than someone else’s productPosted from

Hey Corey… thanks for the clarification on Benzema’s abilities in the air… clearly had a worng impression from the highlight reels I’ve seen. If we’re tlaking about aerial ability, let’s just say that isn’t Villa’s go-to move either.
In any case, I do think he’d be a good signing if it is indeed at 35m euros.
I like Brian’s starting lineup… I’m also assuming Robben might get shipped out as he and Sneijder are the ones who stand to command a good price in the market in our current roster. I do find myself raising an eyebrow over the idea of Arbeloa at LB. Though I do know he can play there, as he does from time to time at Liverpool, it’s not really something that’s really right up his alley. But I suppose anyone would be better than Heinze.
btw… goal.com is saying that Lyon have cofirmed the deal for Benzema… whoa….

Lyon’s website confirms the deal. 35 ME + 6 ME in add-on for performance, team success, ect.

Benzema is coming to Real Madrid. 30m pounds.

Who’s the one always coming on here having man dreams about Benzema? I can’t remember who but I do remember somebody posting for him last summer! At any rate, they’re coming true!
What if Villa decides to just stay with Valencia? Or is his transfer to Barca a foregone conclusion with the completion of this deal?
Another question, where does this leave Franck Ribery? I’m sure the Benzema deal isn’t going to come cheap, and there are positions of much greater need. I know Bayern slapped a huge-normous price tag on him. Has he become untransferrable?

great player, but unnecessary in my eyes. i think i just have to accept that we’re gonna end up conceding goals against the cantenaro boys rather than benefit from them.

Wow. That was pretty unexpected. Welcome Karim!
Andres – I agree: hopefully Gonzalo will hold his place in the starting line up. That kid has contributed so much and has been the only player (besides maybe Raul) who plays with purpose and determination EVERY game. He wants to win. True Madridismo.
Corey and I were leading the campaign for the Benzema signing on this forum over a year ago. Still, this is a bit of a bittersweet signing. At this point Huntelaar must be sold; Negredo seems completely improbable, as stated above Higuain’s role with the team gets called into question, Ruud? and where the hell does Raul fit into this squad? (Fears that he might still be started. Ashamed at said fears.)
At the end of the day though, it’s a fantastic, forward looking signing. Again: Welcome Karim!

Thanks Donovan!!!
Sambit, yeah, I know what you mean, Benzema has the “potential” to be better than Villa, but he still isn’t, so he better score 30 goals this coming season…
Corey, send me an email if you’re gonna post while you’re on vacation, so we don’t write about the same thing
And about Benzema’s aerial ability, Ronaldo9 wasn’t good with his head either, and given the playmakers we have, and Real’s style of play, I don’t think that will be much of a problem

Its official! Benzema will be a madrid player. Im happy about the deal coz together with Higuain they will form the best partnership in the world. They both extremely young and by playing together for the next couple of years will form a great understanding. Also if Negredo is staying with us this year it gives as another option upfront. Really looking forward to the start of the new season.
