we don´t know that for sure ,corey. maybe it will just force defenders to be better tacklers.i am not saying that punish them all with a red card nd ban.but tackles like martin taylor´s on eduardo(he didn´t even look like aiming for d ball) or quique alvarez´s lunge on robben dat send glassboy back out for 1.5 months should be punished.injuries can have rather far reaching impacts,especially if they r long term.so it might very well happen that someone is injured badly enough that his career is screwed completely.schuster nd van basten went down that road nd were never d same afterwards.i for one definitely won´t like to see someone lose his career(nd i m not implying dat ne1 else would)because of a bad tackle that shouldn´t have happened.

Schuster knows full well about the Butcher of Bilbao, having lost a signifcant portion of his career due to one of his tackles. These things happen in football though, so if we punish players for these tackles, we will be playing baseball with no physical contact, BORING!

who allowed diaby on to d pitch?? He should not b allowed 2 touch a ball until wesley comes back.really such things should b punished severely.how is it fair dat u send a player out 4 months nd escape widout ne retribution??football has evolved past d time of gentile nd d butcher of bilbao, goixotea(i keep forgetting his name). Such fouls should b punished harshly.

I do see Sneijders injury to be an oppurtunity for both Javi and Ruben in the midfield. The thing is, Van der Vaart will definately make it harder for them, especially since Ruben spoke of wanting to be a more attacking midfielder and Javi said he didnt mind playing center back but…he is a DM with two other DMs in the squad.

Yeah, while I’m thoroughly pissed off about that Diaby tackle (read ‘Emirates Cup Info’ post), I see this as a boon to some of our less famous midfielders, specifically De la Red. Wesley’s absence should create more oportunities for Ruben to shine, although Van der Vaart’s signing is a step back for him. Still, Madrid’s midfield is one place that lacks neither depth nor talent, and it’ll be nice to see some competition for that spot until Sneijder returns. Hala Madrid!
