He’s a goner…but not because he lacks for skill or heart. I think he’ll be going by way of the upcoming Franck Ribery signing. Yes, we are going to end up with 3 of the world’s best 4 attackers in one month’s time…who else is pumped for playing as the whites in FIFA 10?!?

Sniejder is better than VDV in my opinion, but with Kaka on the scene it’s hard to see a strong justification for either of them

We need back up right winger in Granero, LB (Heinze shoull be sold/given as a top up free offer for vdv if required, my pref is Zhirkov), a central defender.if DLR is not back, we might need essien, xabi there..If ribery comes, robben would be sold …raul, guti should not be there in starting line up…

We will not have a good looking Starting XI until the backline is beefed up. There is talk that Albiol is close, but I’m not sure if he’s good enough. I’d welcome Arbeloa back, but honestly feel that Maicon is a better option (with Sergio Ramos moving into the middle). And still, we don’t have a LB.

On the optional lineup: I’d favor a 4-4-2 with one winger and one attacking midfielder based on our current lineup. If Ribery joins us, then Kaka, or CR96 can move upfront to join Higuain. The center of midfield would have a 2 of either Lass, Diarra or Sneijder.

I’d also welcome a 4-2-3-1 with:
Lass-Diarra (or Xabi Alonso)
CR96-Kaka-Robben (or Ribery)
Higuain

To me the valid subs should be Diarra, Sneijder + DLR and maybe Gago. VDV is not good enough for Real Madrid. I feel the same way as Andres about Javo Garcia. I’m scratching my head aobut Guti being viewed as hving a place in the team again (in one of the few instances where Calderon was spot on, he called Guti a 30-year old prospect). If Guti will remain in the lineup then I suppose we need to let Gago go especially if its true that there’s someone out there who’s willing to pay 20m for him.

I think that talk of putting DLR as a starter or as a reason to not go after Xabi Alonso is premature. His health is not 100% guaranteed yet and even if he can play, his absence from the team for the better part of a season means he needs time to readjust to playing real matches again.

the arrival of xabi alonso seems more and more likely with every passing day. if he comes in,i think gago and diarra are on their way out. javi garcia is a goner for sure.only way he can save his skin is if they suddenly switch him to cb and he transforms into the second coming of el gran capitan,hierro. drenthe is on the way out too.

more than sneijder,its vdv that should be sold. we need quality backup if we want to win la decima and the rest of the trophies. and in a 50-60 game season,there will be plenty of oppurtunities for the squad players too. and with big ‘????’ hanging over dlr’s condition,sneijder is needed. even if dlr is healthy,he has been out of play for a year and is gonna take his time slotting back in. guti is way too inconsistent to be reliable.

right now,the first XI is shaping up great. but in the end it will be the squad members who will be the bridges on the road from great matches to cabinets full of silverware.

i voted for him to stay ! wesley is world class and he gets back to this 08 form then he’d be of great help , we tend to forget that we’ll be fighting for 3 tittles not just one so depth is really important only when ribery signs ( who AS claim has refused to renew his bayern contract and might sign for us in the next 15 days ) will i ever think about key word ‘think” about getting rid of wesley
gago , VDV , drenthe and javi garcia ( sorry even though he is a canterano he is not good enough for madrid ) should be sold though

john you have put 2 strikers(Higuain,Ruud) for 1 striker’s position. You guys have Ruund,Raul,Hunter,Higuain,and are looking for a striker. Surely you might have to play 2 strikers.

I voted twice (sorry) – once for option 2, and once for option Granero. I agree with Cesar that VdV should be sold – I think Drenthe should be loaned, and until we erase the ‘?’ from De la Red? we still need some depth in the midfield, and Gago has all but used up his chances (though that still pains me to say).

I desperately want Granero to be given a chace, but I think he’d be a good substitute for one of the wide positions, where Sneijder, when he’s been on, has excelled more in the center/attacking role. He could be a vital player if Kaka needs a rest or gets injured (which is almost a likelihood).

So in the end: I think Sneijder should stay, if only for depth, but I don’t think this precludes Granero’s return.

And Corey – what are your feelings on the 4-2-3-1 that’s been discussed in this forum? (e.g. Lass, Diarra; Robben, Kaka, Ronaldo; Higuain, Ruud)

I voted for the first option, VDV should be sold, DLR we don’t know if he’ll ever make it, Gago could be on his way out, so yes, I think there’s a good chance wesley can play….
