I believe a right winger is needed, not a striker. We have three good ones and Saviola….lets use Bueno, Szalai or Zamora from the youth team later in the year and see if they have what it takes. I think we will be fine this year with our striking options, but the lack of width may hurt us in some games.

I thought Marcelo was having a good game up until the mistake – nevertheless, it was still a big mistake.

Of topic I know, but I read a report the other day that said according to a poll of Madrid fans we need a striker more than any other position.
Just wondered what other people’s POV was – me I think a winger is more important and my main concern with another striker is that Higuain won’t be given the chance to develop.
Any views?

from what I read on Marca, Schuster’s going with the same lineup he used against Betis, so that means more Marcelo, hopefully he won’t do anything to hurt us…

I think playing Marcelo in this game would be suicide. I would rather sacrifice a little width/speed for the experience and positioning of Heinze as left back. He has his defects, but in an away game I would still rather play the Argentinian instead of the Brazilian.

corey, the match is at 12:30 tomorrow and not at the usual CL time 2:45pm. So maybe you can catch the game!

Reg. the match. Real always struggles against teams who are real quick. Zenit don’t dwell around the box too much, I dunno if Diarra will have the pace to keep up with this kind of an attack. And I hope Marcelo starts ahead of Heinze, he gives us width on the left hand side and that extra bit when going forward. Although, against a team who counterattack devastatingly, he can be caught out a few times.

This is going to be an extremely difficult match, for what ive seen lately, zenit are robotically syncronized on offense and defense, they do tend to burn out quickly due to the intensive pace they carry all match through, perhaps Real can show a little more maturity in this perspective. Im curious to see schuster’s choice, he said earlier in the week that Raul had to move up a few meters to regain his scoring inertia. But higuain is lethal if given an open shot, its a difficult call unless robben or vdervaart are left out…..
